It’s been almost two and a half years since the last Fast X cliffhanger, and fans are still waiting to find out what happens next. Fast & Furious 11, originally planned for 2026 and intended to be the last movie in the series, doesn’t have a confirmed release date and there was even talk of it being canceled. However, a recent update from Vin Diesel suggests the project is now moving forward.
Taking to his Instagram account, Diesel posted a series of photos and one video of himself with Michael Moses, the Chief Marketing Officer at Universal Pictures. The video is especially interesting, as while Diesel and Moses are riding around in a golf cart, Moses says, “Out drifting with Dom Toretto planning everything. We got it solved.” Watch it for yourself (last slide)!

That’s encouraging news, isn’t it? It’s a definite improvement from reports three weeks ago, which said Universal would only make Fast & Furious 11 if certain conditions were met. Apparently, the studio wants to keep the movie’s budget under $200 million, but the current script for Fast 11 (also known as Fast X Part 2) is estimated to cost around $250 million to produce. There were also reports that the actors hadn’t yet agreed to return for another film.

As we’ve discussed, Fast & Furious 11 is intended to be the final movie in the series that began in 2001, making it unlikely Universal would cancel it over a budget issue. Vin Diesel’s recent social media post suggests any disagreements about money have been resolved. It’s worth remembering that Fast X cost over $378 million to produce and only earned around $714.5 million worldwide, so concerns about the cost of Fast 11 were understandable.
Now that the recent issues seem to be resolved, we’re hoping to get more solid information about the progress of Fast & Furious 11. The last movie, Fast X, ended with several main characters in dangerous situations. Dom Toretto and his son were trapped in a dam full of explosives set by Dante Reyes, and the plane carrying Roman, Tej, Ramsey, and Han was shot down by the double agent Aimes. Plus, the ending revealed that Gal Gadot’s Gisele is still alive, and a post-credits scene brought Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs back into the story.
A while back, plans were being made for another Fast & Furious movie that would have taken place between Fast X and Fast & Furious 11, featuring Jason Momoa and Dwayne Johnson. However, we haven’t heard anything about that project in two years. Stay tuned to TopMob for the latest news and updates on the Fast & Furious saga!
