I was really excited for the RGG Studio’s *Virtua Fighter* reboot panel at Tokyo Game Show today, but honestly, they didn’t reveal a ton of new stuff. It was a bit disappointing, to be honest – I was hoping for more!
The game is still in early development, but it will include classic head-to-head battles where the goal is to reduce your opponent’s health. A new game mode called Uprising will also be available, offering exciting moments that can quickly change the course of a match.
The game will also introduce a brand-new mechanic named Break & Rush.

Here’s how the developer describes it, as translated by Gematsu:
This new system features a unique way damage works. When you repeatedly hit certain body parts, damage builds up until you can break them. Breaking a body part gives the attacker an advantage, creating new ways to attack. And because broken parts stay broken throughout the match, it adds a strategic element and makes every fight more intense.
Okay, so there isn’t a ton of info out yet, but it sounds like the team at RGG Studio is really trying to do something different with this new fighting game. They’re not just copying what everyone else is doing, and honestly, I’m totally on board with that! I’m excited to see something fresh in the 3D fighting world.
