During Eamonn Holmes‘ ascent to the stage in the opulent ballroom of London’s Grosvenor House Hotel to receive an award for GB News Breakfast, disapproving murmurs from the spectators echoed throughout the venue.
The jeering commenced as soon as host Dan Walker declared that the show had received a Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) award, persisting until Eamonn reached the microphone in his wheelchair and began his speech following some difficulty navigating through it.
According to reliable sources, the criticism was aimed more at GB News in general rather than Eamonn personally, following its successful competition against ITV and the BBC.
Despite what may have transpired, it’s been shared with me that Eamonn’s coworkers at the news station are angry with him because they believe he’s claiming credit for the victory that was achieved collectively.
It seems that the remainder of the breakfast crew finds it unfair that while Stephen Dixon hosts just three days a week, he’s the one speaking during the other four days, and it’s only Eamonn who gets to voice his thoughts, according to inside sources.
Dissatisfaction is increasing, coinciding with allegations of a masculine work environment during GB News breakfast hours. Notably, host Ellie Costello was overlooked for speaking opportunities at the awards event, despite her role as co-host on the weekday shows.
On Wednesday, Anne Diamond, a longtime breakfast TV presenter, chose not to attend the ceremony, even though she is one of the weekend co-hosts for the show.
According to my sources, it appears that the focus once more centered around Eamonn. The victors were given only a brief opportunity to speak before Dan Walker snatched their microphones away – and Eamonn continued speaking until that point arrived.
Despite Stephen hosting more days, there seemed to be no respect shown towards him, nor Ellie or Anne.
In Eamonn’s perspective, everything revolved around him. Others perceived that they weren’t given enough recognition. However, many individuals had contributed significantly to the project – a fact that might not have been apparent to others.
1) The situation infuriated many. One can only imagine the outcome if Anne were present, given that she’s equally experienced and renowned like Eamonn in the television world.
Eamonn began working at GB News with great excitement in 2022, following his dismissal from Good Morning on ITV. The management there had grown weary of him.
It’s clear that the 65-year-old host from Ulster is the highest-paid among the breakfast show crew, largely because of his extensive career in afternoon TV. Some reports estimate his annual income to be above £300,000.
But, I’m told, there are moves afoot at GB News to de-throne Eamonn.
As a die-hard admirer, I’ve been informed that certain figures within GB News harbor intense disdain for him. In their eyes, he’s nothing more than a spent force. However, despite this backstage animosity, it seems viewers still adore him.

Every day, Eamonn is driven to and from the GB News studios from his residence in Kingston, Surrey, where he’s then rolled onto set. The management at the network has been accommodating towards Eamonn due to his mobility challenges, which stem from a double hip replacement and surgery for three herniated spinal discs, leaving him with limited sensation in his lower back. In 2023, Eamonn disclosed that he was no longer able to walk or take care of himself on his own.
As a devoted supporter, I can share that some influential figures are determined to prioritize Eamonn’s well-being above all else. They are prepared to take necessary steps to ensure his presence on screen.
Eamonn, just like others, seems content with his setup at the channel. I’ve heard from acquaintances that he finds it necessary to earn a substantial income because of an ongoing dispute with HMRC regarding his status as a freelancer and taxes owed.
In the previous year, he was compelled to dispose of his secondary residence situated in Belfast due to settling some financial obligations. Moreover, Eamonn asserted that the tax authority had virtually emptied him of all his possessions.
Currently, it appears Eamonn is navigating a ‘somewhat complex’ divorce with his ex-wife and former partner Ruth Langsford. However, his younger girlfriend Katie Alexander seems to bring joy into his life.
On Wednesday, occurrences took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel following some turbulent weeks, specifically concerning GB News and particularly their morning program.
Over the weekend, it came to light that an investigation is ongoing within the HR department following an incident where a young female producer was inadvertently injured when Eamonn Holmes’ wheelchair struck her on set. GB News has been attempting to keep this story out of the public eye, but their efforts to silence the media through legal means have proven unsuccessful.
Previously, during the last month, an additional dose of excitement unfolded as Eamonn, aged 65, unexpectedly toppled from his chair during a live broadcast, while conversing with commentator Charlie Rowley.
Charlie stared in shock as Eamonn seemingly plummeted to the floor out of sight. The unmistakable sound of impact echoed, followed by a sharp intake of breath from Ellie, Eamonn’s fellow host.

Previously, Eamonn’s disappearance during the live show caused worry among viewers as they had been following the show closely, which was entirely reasonable.
Forty minutes before the program ended, he vanished from his workspace without reappearing until the broadcast was over, forcing Ellie to host solo. The cause of this event remains unexplained.
Towards the end of January, Isabel Webster, Eamonn’s longtime co-host and friend, was unexpectedly let go from her position. While there were allegations that Eamonn played a role in this dismissal, sources claimed otherwise. Instead, it was reported that Isabel’s departure was due to a hidden dispute with her colleagues regarding her work schedule. Specifically, she disliked the requirement to extend her on-screen days from three to five per week and refused to comply with these demands.
Even though Eamonn is highly regarded by GB News executives, I’ve been told that some have been closely observing Richard Madeley, the host of ITV’s This Morning – and they became even more intrigued following ITV’s announcement about reorganizing its daytime television programming. This move potentially puts several hosts at risk of job loss.
‘Eamonn is resilient; he has navigated numerous challenges throughout his extensive career. It’s premature to count him out… for now.’
