HBO Max has cancelled a lot of animated shows, including popular series like Infinity Train, Powerpuff Girls, and Courage the Cowardly Dog. Many of these shows have moved to other streaming services, or disappeared from streaming altogether. However, a classic animated franchise – one that played a huge role in building Warner Bros. – has surprisingly found a new home. After leaving HBO Max, it’s now available on Tubi and is actually gaining even more viewers.
The classic animated series Looney Tunes has found a new audience on Tubi, becoming a popular offering on the free streaming service since it was added in August. Because Tubi is ad-supported and doesn’t require a subscription, it’s easy for people to start watching. The series quickly became one of Tubi’s top ten most-watched programs, and Samuel Harowitz, Tubi’s head of acquisitions, told Vulture that Looney Tunes is a major success for the platform.
Looney Tubi (Coyote Vs. Acme Future)

Although the classic Looney Tunes cartoons are likely coming to Tubi, the new movie Coyote Vs. Acme might not follow. The most recent Looney Tunes movie, The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, is still available on HBO Max, and features Daffy Duck and Porky Pig battling aliens. Even though Ketchup Entertainment now handles the theatrical release of the canceled Will Forte and John Cena film, it’s still possible Coyote Vs. Acme will stream on Max.
Tubi is working hard to keep the Looney Tunes available on its platform. The head of content acquisition has made it clear that the Looney Tunes franchise is a top priority, and they’re actively negotiating to secure the entire series for years to come.
With the recent news about Warner Bros Discovery potentially being sold, many are wondering what the future holds for the Looney Tunes characters. Several companies, including Paramount (now part of Skydance), are interested in buying the studio, but Warner Bros has already rejected Paramount’s initial offers. Once the sale goes through, it will be fascinating to see how the new ownership impacts Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes gang.
I’ve been noticing a lot of buzz about the Looney Tunes making a comeback, and it’s really cool to see! I’d love to hear your thoughts on it too. Feel free to share what you think in the comments, and let’s chat about it over on the ComicBook Forum!
