Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
Explore the vast outdoors of North America in this next level open-world hunting game.
Experience the excitement of hunting in the Canadian wilderness! You can pursue large game animals like moose, elk, bears, and bison, or try for smaller game such as rabbits, turkeys, and other birds. Display your trophies with pride!
Way of the Hunter 2 aims to be the most realistic and detailed hunting simulation available. We’ve used what we learned from our first game, listened to player feedback, and worked through many versions to create a solid base for future updates, expansions, and ongoing support.
We’ve partnered with more than 10 real-world brands – including those making hunting rifles, high-tech gear, and precision optics – to make sure the equipment in our game feels authentic and fully immerses you in the hunting experience.
You’re the newest hunter in town, and you’ll face exciting challenges in two beautiful locations, meeting interesting characters along the way. In New Laurentia, you’ll work with a dog trainer and the local warden to investigate why the moose are acting so strangely.
Early Access

They’re really focusing on making it feel authentic and are planning to work closely with players to achieve that.
The game is currently available to play and offers a good basic experience, but it’s still under development. The team released it early so players can provide feedback that will help shape the game’s systems, how it works, and what’s added in the future, while those things are still being worked on.
