WB Games Is Bringing Back Its ‘Biggest Franchises’ Starting Next Year

Warner Bros. has faced a lot of challenges recently, and its gaming division has been particularly affected by these difficulties.

Last year, Warner Bros. Games made some changes, closing down several of its studios and cancelling projects. This included shutting down Monolith Productions, which was developing a Wonder Woman game, and also closing Player First Games, the studio behind MultiVersus, as well as WB Games San Diego.

As a big fan, I heard they were shaking things up at the company to really concentrate on their biggest hits. Basically, they’re putting all their energy into franchises like Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC, and Game of Thrones – the ones everyone loves!

It looks like some of these companies will be returning to the gaming world soon.

According to Warner Bros. Games head JB Perrette, the company expects to release several major games and regain momentum over the next two years.

He mentioned that their most popular projects will begin generating significant results around 2027 or 2028, but didn’t specify which ones they are.

It’s pretty easy to see why a sequel is likely. With HBO planning a Harry Potter series and the huge success of Hogwarts Legacy, continuing the story just makes sense.

It’s unclear what Rocksteady Studios is developing after their ambitious, and somewhat risky, game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in 2024. They’re probably now focusing on a more conventional project, and it will likely be another game set in the DC universe.

I’m really excited about a couple of games Perrette mentioned! LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is definitely at the top of my list, and it sounds like they’re also working on a Game of Thrones mobile game, which I think will be awesome.
