We Aren’t Getting Spider-Man vs. Kingpin, but the Next Best Thing Is Happening 3 Times This Year

Although Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, won’t appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there’s good news for fans hoping to see him face Spider-Man. He’s expected to appear in three different Spider-Man projects planned for 2026. Many fans have wanted to see Spider-Man battle Kingpin on the big screen for years. While Kingpin is now strongly linked to Daredevil, he originally appeared as a Spider-Man villain, making this a long-awaited matchup for many.

Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, is the Mayor of New York City in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be back in season two of Daredevil: Born Again in March. While fans are looking forward to that, many Spider-Man enthusiasts are disappointed because it’s unlikely he’ll appear in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie. It appears there are legal issues preventing Marvel from using Kingpin in other MCU films, which is unfortunate. However, another character similar to Kingpin will be featured in future Marvel projects.

Tombstone Will Appear In 3 Spider-Man Projects This Year

Tombstone is a powerful crime boss in New York City, much like Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin. He prefers to work behind the scenes, and he’s actually even stronger than Fisk thanks to his superpowers. Although he isn’t as well-known as classic Spider-Man villains like Green Goblin or Doctor Octopus, Tombstone is gaining more attention, with a bigger role planned for him in 2026.

Tombstone is set to appear in the Amazon Prime Video series Spider-Noir. While he isn’t a main cast member, suggesting a smaller role, official artwork for the series has confirmed he will be included.

Tombstone will be a major villain in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie. Actor Krondon will play the character, and he’s expected to battle Spider-Man, and potentially The Punisher. While details about the film are still limited, fans are excited to see Tombstone join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in such a prominent role.

Tombstone is set to reappear in the second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, planned for release in Fall 2026. The first season spent a lot of time developing Lonnie Lincoln’s character, from a schoolmate of Peter Parker to someone with incredibly durable skin. The next season will likely show how he becomes a villain, expanding on his backstory.

Although it’s disappointing Wilson Fisk won’t be featured in Brand New Day, it’s great to see another gritty, street-level villain getting attention this year. Tombstone is a compelling character who will allow Spider-Man to explore new territory in the MCU, and we’ll even see different interpretations of him in other upcoming projects.

Tombstone’s Brand New Day Inclusion Could Contain A Link To Wilson Fisk

Even though Wilson Fisk might not be in the current storyline, the character Tombstone could pave the way for his return in a future project. In the comics, Tombstone has a history of working for Kingpin. Now that Fisk is the mayor of New York City, he’s seemingly ignoring criminal activity, and it’s possible he’s secretly collaborating with Tombstone. Fisk could be using Tombstone as a way to enforce his plans without directly involving himself or City Hall.

In the upcoming Brand New Day storyline, Peter might uncover a link between Tombstone and Kingpin, potentially leading to a two-part arc that continues in the next installment. This connection could also explain why the Punisher is involved. Frank Castle has a history with Kingpin, stemming from his imprisonment during the first season of Daredevil: Born Again. Now that Castle is free, Kingpin might be targeting those who helped put him away, and Tombstone could be one of them.

Even if the Tombstone storyline doesn’t pan out for Wilson Fisk, his influence will definitely be felt in the upcoming Brand New Day. He’s outlawed vigilantism in New York City, which will likely make things harder for Spider-Man. Fisk’s image is all over the city, and Spider-Man could even cross paths with Fisk’s task force dedicated to stopping vigilantes. While Fisk probably won’t directly appear in Brand New Day, it’s difficult to imagine the story completely ignoring the connection between Spider-Man and Kingpin.
