Oh wow, we didn’t expect to see a new Carmageddon game get announced before Christmas.
The car combat series has been around for a while, and the second game gained some popularity on the original PlayStation, even though critics didn’t like it very much.
The Carmageddon series had a weak attempt at a restart on the PS4 with Carmageddon: Max Damage, but the recently revealed Carmageddon: Rogue Shift actually looks promising.
What’s new this time is the game’s roguelite style – every playthrough will be a little unique. You’ll progress through a challenging campaign, improving your car with different abilities and enhancements along the way.

If you don’t make it to the end, another driver takes over, and you can use lasting improvements to get further in your next attempt.
The complete game will feature a wide range of customization options, including over 15 vehicles you can upgrade, 13 different weapon types, and more than 80 unique perks. To enhance the experience, the game includes a changing day/night cycle, realistic weather effects, and a detailed damage system that makes every hit feel impactful.
Some players might miss the old style, but considering how disappointing most Carmageddon games have been, we’re happy to see the series try something a little different.
You can now pre-order the racing game on the PlayStation Store before its release on February 6th. PlayStation Plus members get a 10% discount! The game will normally cost $39.99 or £32.99.
