The latest God of War game, Laufey, explores new territory by centering on Kratos’ deceased wife, Faye, and her experiences in the afterlife, known as the Everywhen.
But that doesn’t mean Kratos’ story is over – not by a long stretch.
In a recent YouTube video, Cory Barlog, Creative Head at Santa Monica Studio, confirmed that they plan to continue making games featuring Kratos, and the team is very enthusiastic about it.
Game Director Ariel Lawrence added: “We can’t not tell stories about the big guy!”
The official Santa Monica Studio account recently addressed a fan’s question on X (formerly Twitter).
It said:
We’re planning to continue Kratos’ story as the God of War. Right now, we’re thrilled to invite players to explore the afterlife of the gods through the character of Faye, and we hope you’ll join us on this adventure!
This news pretty much confirms that new God of War games are being planned, and development is starting to focus on Kratos’s future adventures.
We’re all aware a remake of the God of War trilogy is happening, and now that Cory Barlog is leading the creative team, it’s likely he’s already started planning the next game in the series.
