Crimson Desert is off to a fantastic start, selling over two million copies globally in just a few hours after its release. This makes it a huge win for developer Pearl Abyss.
The game developer thanked fans for their support on social media, and said they’re already listening to feedback and plan to keep improving the game going forward.
A spokesperson said:
We’re carefully reviewing all the feedback we’ve received and will be working hard to make things better as quickly as possible, so everyone has an even more fun experience.
Reviews focused on PC only, and we’ve only just been able to test the console release.
We currently believe the standard PS5 has some noticeable issues, and we’ve recorded 25 minutes of gameplay footage to demonstrate them.
Even though the game’s story and quests feel a bit strange, it looks and plays much better on the PS5 Pro. We’ll share a complete review soon.
Okay, so the reviews for Crimson Desert are… decent. Honestly, I was hoping for something amazing – a lot of us thought it might be a real Game of the Year contender, but it’s not quite hitting that level, it seems.
It currently sits at a 78 on Metacritic, which is good, but not the masterpiece some anticipated.
Despite the issues, Crimson Desert is off to a strong start, with launch day sales suggesting it will be a major success for developer Pearl Abyss.
