‘We Wouldn’t Run Out Of Things:’ Landman Got An Early Season 3 Renewal, And The Cast And Co-Creator Opened Up About How Long It Could Go On

It’s no surprise that Landman has been renewed for a third season. The show is already a big success for Paramount+, just like its first season, and we’re still early in its 2025 run. The cast and creators have also been discussing the potential for the show to continue for quite some time, suggesting a long-term vision for this Taylor Sheridan series.

The second season of Landman launched with record-breaking numbers for Paramount+, becoming their most popular premiere ever, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It attracted 9.2 million viewers globally in just a few days – three times the audience of the first season’s premiere. Given these impressive results, it’s no surprise the show’s creators are already planning future seasons. Showrunner Christian Wallace says they’re only at the beginning of the story.

We only explored a small part of the story in the first season, and even after the second, it feels like there’s still so much more to uncover.

Even though we’ve only seen three episodes of Season 2 (with the fourth coming to Paramount+ on Sunday), it’s already obvious that the season is just getting started.

Andy Garcia’s character has become a major player, and Demi Moore’s Cami is involved in a storyline much larger than her role in the first season. The issues facing M-Tex and Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy are proving to be surprisingly complicated. According to Wallace, the show’s world – particularly the oil industry – offers plenty of potential for future storylines, and the strong ensemble cast makes it easy to build on what they’ve established.

After getting to know these characters in the first season, we’re excited to explore their stories further in season two and really turn up the pressure. They’re a joy to work with, and the world we’ve built – West Texas, the oil and gas industry, and the social dynamics of Fort Worth – offers a wealth of storytelling possibilities. Our talented cast has truly brought these characters to life, understanding them so well that it makes crafting a compelling and entertaining narrative much easier.

I completely trust what he said, and I’m confident they have plans to add more big-name stars to this world. Wallace even mentioned to TopMob that he’d be thrilled to see Tim McGraw and Faith Hill from 1883 join the cast – and I know many fans would feel the same way! Now, it seems like they finally have the chance to make that happen.

Regarding the show’s storyline, Michelle Randolph, who plays Ainsley Norris, has hinted that there’s plenty more to come after this season. She believes there’s so much story potential, they won’t be facing a shortage of ideas. She explained:

After two seasons, there’s still a lot of story to explore with these characters, and I think the show has the potential to continue for many seasons because there’s no shortage of ideas.

Paramount+ offers plans starting at $7.99 a month or $59.99 a year. You can watch shows like Landman and other series created by Taylor Sheridan. An ad-free Premium plan is available for $12.99 per month. See the deal here.

Both Randolph and Wallace feel the show has a long future, and Billy Bob Thornton appears to agree. He said he’s willing to continue playing Tommy for as long as he can, and they’ll decide when the time is right to end Landman.

Although any TV show could be canceled, Landman‘s popularity suggests it will likely continue for many seasons beyond its third. The creative team clearly feels the same way, as there’s plenty more story they’re eager to explore.

Things are looking good for Landman! You can enjoy new episodes of its second season every Sunday on Paramount+.
