Okay, so Quantum Dream – the guys who made those story-driven PlayStation games like Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human – they just started a beta test for their first PC game, Spellcasters Chronicles. It’s pretty cool to see them branching out!
Spellcasters Chronicles is a big change of pace for the developers, who usually focus on story-based games. This new title is a free-to-play, competitive multiplayer game that will be continuously updated with new content.
The project was announced last October, but it didn’t exactly excite people – particularly those who loved the company’s earlier games. Launching a successful live service game is notoriously hard, so many were skeptical about whether this one would succeed.
The new trailer looked promising, but it makes you wonder if Quantic Dream has what it takes to succeed with a multiplayer game. It’s a valid concern, and we might find out more in the coming days.
The beta test is now available, but only for PC players, and will run until December 8th. We can expect to see first reactions and reviews soon, and it will be interesting to see if Spellcasters gains popularity right away.
You can catch some gameplay in the following video:
What do you think of Quantic Dream’s new game? Will Spellcasters Chronicles struggle like many other games trying the ‘live service’ model, or does it seem promising? Share your thoughts in the comments, and let’s keep the discussion friendly!
