The team at Pearl Abyss, the studio behind Crimson Desert, and especially marketing director Will Powers, appear frustrated with the ongoing questions about why they haven’t released gameplay footage for consoles.
Crimson Desert, the new open-world game, is launching on consoles and PC in just over two weeks. Most of the gameplay footage shown so far has been from the PC version. While there’s been one trailer featuring footage from the PlayStation 5 Pro, the developers have confirmed the game will be enhanced for that console.
However, far more often than not, Crimson Desert has been shown off running on a PC.
With the game being so large and ambitious, people are starting to worry about how well it will perform on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Pearl Abyss hasn’t shown any gameplay from the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, which is adding to those concerns. The troubled launch of Cyberpunk 2077 is still fresh in many players’ minds, and some fear Crimson Desert could face similar problems.
Will Powers addressed the worries by stating the studio has nothing to hide and expressed his frustration with constantly needing to reiterate that fact.
Powers explained that they plan to share details about the game before it’s released, giving fans enough time to pre-order it. He jokingly asked for patience, saying, “Let us finish our work, please!”
Crimson Desert is set to release on March 19, 2026, and Pearl Abyss is expected to share gameplay footage for console platforms before then.
One fan commented on the social media post, explaining that concerns likely stem from the game being a brand new, large-scale project. They pointed out that if this were the third installment in an established series like Crimson Desert, people wouldn’t be as focused on the lack of information about console versions.
Even though we know the PS5 Pro will have improvements, it’s still unclear what resolution and frame rate Crimson Desert will target on consoles. We also don’t know if the game will offer different graphics and performance settings.
Someone else pointed out that it’s understandable why the developers might be hesitant to share console footage, remembering the issues with Cyberpunk 2077. They delayed showing console versions of that game until release, and it turned out to be in rough shape, so people are asking for reassurance now.
