Based on Peter Heller’s 2012 novel, the film The Dog Stars features a talented cast including Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin, Guy Pearce, and Benedict Wong. The story is set after a deadly virus has decimated the population and centers on Hig, a pilot played by Elordi, and a former marine, played by Brolin, as they navigate a dangerous world filled with violent raiders—known as Reapers—and grapple with profound grief.

Despite not being known for science fiction at the start of his career, Ridley Scott was praised by producer Michael Deeley as having an exceptional visual style. The success of the original Star Wars film inspired him to direct Alien, which became a landmark movie in the sci-fi genre. However, it’s been several years since Scott delivered another highly acclaimed science fiction film; his 2017 release, Alien: Covenant, received mixed reviews from both audiences and critics.
