Squid Game: The Challenge is back for a second season, promising even more thrilling and high-stakes competitions.
Four hundred and fifty-six players are competing in a series of eight challenging games, all vying for a $4.56 million prize.
This season, there are some new games that’ll truly put the players through their paces.
The show will include small references to different games, and viewers might notice them—or they might not.
According to executive producer Nicola Brown, the small details and hidden references – what they call ‘Easter eggs’ – are a key part of the experience for both those watching and those playing the game. She explained to Tudum that players immediately examine their surroundings, specifically the walls of the dorm, to try and discover clues about upcoming games.

The Count
The Count is a brand-new game that starts the season and will significantly influence how the rest of the competition unfolds.
Catch
In Squid Game: The Challenge, one of the games is called Catch. Players throw a ball to each other, but the distance of the throws increases as the game goes on, making it more difficult.
Game designer Ben Norman explained that the game includes a subtle psychological element, requiring players to carefully think through their choices.
Slides and Ladders
I’m so excited about Slides and Ladders for Season 2! It’s like the classic game we all grew up with, but it’s been blown up to a huge scale with a lot more on the line – it’s going to be intense!
Six-Legged Pentathlon
In the second season of Squid Game, the game Pentathlon divides players into groups of ten, which are then further split into two teams of five.
Teams compete in mini-games while physically linked, and must finish each game to move forward.
Instead of playing out like a TV show, these racers have just five minutes to finish the course or they’re out of the competition.
The Pentathlon games consist of Ball-in-a-Cup, Flying Stone, Gong-gi, House of Cards and Jegi.

Mingle
Mingle debuted in a reality TV show where contestants stand on a rotating carousel with doors all around them.
When the carousel comes to a halt, a number is announced, and players need to quickly form a group of that size and go into the next room.
Players who can’t join a room, or who are in a room with the wrong number of people, will be removed from the game.
According to the game’s director, Diccon Ramsay, players will need to prioritize their own survival. He explained that difficult, split-second decisions – even if it means sacrificing allies – will be a key part of the experience.
Marbles
Marbles is a particularly impactful game featured in both scripted and unscripted television, where players compete in pairs.
Players each receive a bag of marbles and have 30 minutes to play a game with them, with a winner ultimately decided based on the game’s outcome.
The loser must then hand over their marbles and is eliminated.

Circle of Trust
In the game Circle of Trust, players sit with blindfolds on, and a gift box is placed in the middle. When a player is tapped, they take off their blindfold, grab the gift box, and put it in front of the player they want to remove from the game.
After that, the player goes back to their seat and replaces their blindfold. Once everyone takes their blindfolds off, the player who received the gift box has to figure out who secretly put it there.
Whether the recipients guess correctly or incorrectly, the person who gave the gift box is out of the game.
Finale game
The details of the finale game are yet to be revealed.
