Netflix has made it a priority to create a Christmas movie for all tastes each year. To do this, they now release a large number of holiday films annually, hoping to offer something everyone will enjoy.
Even though many people flock to see Christmas movies, they’re not always critically acclaimed. This year, four new films are being released during the holiday season, covering a variety of genres – including a crime caper, a funny take on Santa Claus with a twist, and a romantic comedy centered around wine.

What are the New Netflix Original Christmas movies this year?
This year’s holiday movies start with A Merry Little Ex-mas, a story about a woman navigating the holidays after a divorce, complicated by an unexpected visit from her ex and his new girlfriend. Also new this year is Champagne Problems, a romantic comedy inspired by the Taylor Swift song of the same name, following a driven businesswoman during a beautiful French winter.
Though Champagne Problems focuses on the romance, Jingle Bell Heist is a comedy about two petty thieves who realize they’re both planning to rob the same London department store—and things quickly get chaotic. Meanwhile, My Secret Santa tells the story of a single mom who disguises herself as a man to work as Santa at a ski resort.

Steve Carr, the director behind films like Daddy Day Care and Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and the 2018 Freaky Friday remake, brings us A Merry Little Ex-mas. If you’re looking for a funny Christmas movie, this could be it.
