The much-anticipated second season of Wednesday has made its debut on Netflix, leaving fans pondering the mysteries surrounding her unique talents. As we know, Wednesday is not your typical high school student and possesses a unique gift, shared by all students at Nevermore Academy. So, what are these extraordinary skills she boasts, and how have they evolved this season?
Here’s all you need to know.
Wednesday Addams’ powers and abilities listed
Wednesday Addams has psychic abilities and the power of clairvoyance.
In the initial season of the series, viewers witnessed Wednesday gradually uncovering her latent psychic abilities, which were not fully formed at that stage. These abilities would occasionally manifest as uncanny foresights that she could not regulate. These premonitions usually surfaced when she came into contact with objects tied to the past or future.
During the course of the program, Wednesday started developing her otherworldly talents and found out that she received this ability from her forebearer. It’s revealed that her father, a descendant of Gomez, was once known as Goody Addams – a well-respected witch and medium in earlier times. Conversely, Wednesday’s mother, Morticia Frump, also holds this potent power herself.
Much like Goody Addams, Wednesday is often referred to as a psychic with a gloomy outlook on life. Later in the series, Morticia advises her daughter that she needs to learn to manage her powers, as uncontrolled abilities can lead ravens to mental instability. Yet, Wednesday proves herself capable and eventually harnesses her talents effectively, which played a crucial role in revealing Tyler’s true identity as Hyde.
How does Wednesday lose her powers in Season 2?
Wednesday loses her power in Season 2 after she gets a vision of Enid’s death.
Towards the end of the first episode of Season 2, Wednesday experiences a vision after Enid touches her. In this vision, Wednesday finds herself at Enid’s grave, where Enid’s ghost emerges to accuse Wednesday of causing her death. During this trance-like state, Wednesday falls to the ground, suffering a violent seizure accompanied by tears that are as black as night.
In the second episode, Morticia clarifies that the flowing black tears signify a state of “overwhelming mental fatigue,” which arises when one misuses their powers excessively without proper control. Consequently, she insists that Wednesday relinquish Goody’s book of spells. She encourages Wednesday to exhibit patience and hold out for a new spiritual mentor instead.
