A long-held secret in EastEnders, hidden for nearly twenty years, may soon be revealed.
Now that Jake Moon is back on the show, viewers are wondering what happened to his brother, Danny, who lived on Albert Square from 2004 to 2006.
I was really excited to see Alfie – Shane Richie is brilliant – when he showed up, because it turned out he was going to help Kat Moon, played by Jessie Wallace, get her daughter Zoe Slater, Michelle Ryan, out of prison. It was a classic soap storyline, and I was hooked to see how he’d do it!

Jake’s family firmly believes that his former girlfriend, Chrissie Watts (played by Tracy-Ann Oberman), was wrongly accused of killing Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey). They don’t realize that it was actually Zoe’s daughter, Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness), who was responsible for his death.
Wow, it’s been a while since Alfie and Jake actually saw each other – all the way back to 2006! I always remember that scene with Johnny Allen, Billy Murray’s character, on his deathbed. It totally seemed like he was ordering Jake to be killed, but looking back, he was actually talking about Ruby’s boyfriend at the time, Sean Slater. It was a total misunderstanding, and a really clever bit of writing, if I’m honest!
Just before leaving Walford, Johnny was approached by one of his associates, and we thought he had died – until a quick appearance in 2024 proved otherwise.

While they were talking, Jake revealed he’d been avoiding contact because he worried someone connected to Johnny might find him. Alfie then wondered if they could get in touch with Danny and all meet up properly.
Jake quickly brushed off the idea, saying he hadn’t heard from his brother in years.
But as long-term viewers will know, this is far from the truth.

How did Danny Moon die in EastEnders?
Jake wasn’t the only character involved with Johnny Allen’s schemes. Back in 2005, Danny carried out Johnny’s order to murder Dennis Rickman, and shortly after, he was told to eliminate both Phil and Grant Mitchell.
Danny tried to shoot Grant, but ended up falling instead. Unbeknownst to them, Jake had been following his brother and tried to stop what was happening in the woods.
He planned to wound Danny – either in the leg or arm – as a distraction to help the Mitchells get away, but accidentally shot and killed him. Jake has been carrying the burden of this terrible secret ever since.
After talking to Phil, Jake was encouraged to convince Chrissie to come to Walford, hoping Kat and Alfie could finally get the information they need.
But will he divulge what happened to Danny?
