Okay, so Pokémon’s getting ready to celebrate 30 years, and they just announced some cool events called “Day Out” and “Night Out.” Sounds like there’s going to be something for everyone, both during the day and at night! I’m already hyped to see what they have planned.
These unusual events began appearing during the buzz around the ‘What’s Your Favourite?’ campaign at Super Bowl XL, and they have a unique characteristic when they occur later in the year.
We’re still missing some specifics, but here’s everything we’ve confirmed about the Pokémon Day and Night Out events so far.
What is Pokémon Day Out and Night Out?
Pokémon fans can look forward to two new events, ‘Day Out’ and ‘Night Out’, which were revealed during Super Bowl weekend. ‘Day Out’ is geared towards families with younger fans, while ‘Night Out’ is designed for those who grew up with Pokémon. Both events will offer unique experiences throughout the year.

The specific events planned haven’t been announced yet, and we don’t even know when Pokémon Day Out and Night Out will begin.
What could Day Out & Night Out involve? Our speculation
All we know about the plans for Pokémon Day Out and Night Out is that they’ll be interactive and really pull you into the experience.
I’m really excited about the Day Out event! It sounds like they could be showing off the new seasons of the Pokémon Horizons anime, and maybe even some cool Pokémon TCG Play Labs – kind of like the ones they have at the Pokémon World Championships. It’s going to be awesome!
The upcoming Pokémon Night Out event seems geared towards older fans – adults or those in their late teens. This has led to speculation about more mature Pokémon content, like a PG-13 anime series, adult-focused merchandise, events at places that serve alcohol, or even games with ratings higher than the usual family-friendly levels.
It’s increasingly likely we’ll see more anime and games geared towards older audiences, as Pokémon now has a large fanbase of adults who grew up with the series, alongside its traditional younger audience of children aged three to twelve.
With the 30th anniversary generating huge excitement, now is the perfect time to try out Pokémon merchandise specifically designed for longtime fans – there’s likely to be more attention on the brand than ever before.
Even though that’s what they said, The Pokémon Company did mention they’ll share more information about both the Day Out and Night Out features later on, so I’m still excited to hear what those details will be!
At that point, we’ll be updating this explainer the second we know more.
