It’s officially Christmas now the John Lewis Christmas advert 2025 is out!
“Where Love Lives” is a touching story about a father and son who struggle to talk to each other, despite their deep love for one another.
A thoughtful musical gift allows a father to reconnect with his younger self, and helps his son gain a deeper understanding of who he is as a person.
This year’s ad does something a little different: it features two versions of the same song in the film. Both versions are great and are sure to be memorable throughout the holidays.
So, what is the song for 2025? And who sings it? Read on for all the details.
What is the John Lewis Christmas advert 2024 song?

The song for the John Lewis Christmas advert 2025 is Where Love Lives by Alison Limerick.
The original song came out in 1990, and while it’s featured in the John Lewis Christmas advert, a second, slower and more emotional version performed by Labrinth is also used – it’s this version that really fits the typical ‘John Lewis style’.
Who sings the John Lewis Christmas advert 2025 song?
Alison Limerick and Labrinth sing their versions of the song “Where Love Lives” in the 2025 John Lewis Christmas ad.
The commercial begins with the father reminiscing about his youth, recalling a time when he was carefree and loved to dance at clubs.
As the advertisement becomes more emotionally touching, showing a father connecting with his son and navigating their lives together, Labrinth begins to sing a gentler, piano-focused rendition of the song.
Alison Limerick was thrilled to hear her song, ‘Where Love Lives,’ featured in the John Lewis Christmas advert, describing her reaction as a childlike squeal. She believes music has a unique ability to unite people, and hopes this advert will create a fresh, emotional connection to the song, particularly highlighting the beautiful and gentle version created by Labrinth, which she feels will be deeply moving.

As a longtime fan, it’s incredible to me that I, a kid from Hackney, East London who grew up loving the John Lewis Christmas ad, actually got to reimagine a classic and write a song for them! That ad is such a big part of Christmas in Britain, and honestly, it makes me feel homesick in the best way. It’s a real honor to be involved.
You might have heard a short clip of Labrinth’s new take on a familiar song, and now the complete version is available!
I’m so excited that Rough Trade in John Lewis is releasing a special vinyl record! It’s a beautiful idea – one side has the original, iconic song by Limerick, and the other features the full, stunning version by Labrinth. It’s a perfect pairing, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
This vinyl record costs £14.99, and all the money earned from its sale will go to the John Lewis Partnership’s Building Happier Futures program, helping people who spent their childhood in care.
