Sean “Diddy” Combs spent his birthday behind bars.
The rap mogul turned 56 on November 4th while serving a 50-month prison sentence for prostitution-related convictions at Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey. This came just one month after his sentencing.
According to a prison menu obtained by People magazine, Sean “Diddy” Combs â who was recently found not guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering charges â started his birthday with a simple breakfast. He could choose between fruit, bran flakes or breakfast cake, or whole wheat bread with two jelly packets. Skim milk and margarine were also served with the meal.
For lunch, the founder of Bad Boys Records had a choice between chicken parmesan and a chickpea burger. He could also choose sides of spinach and pasta, along with either garlic bread or whole wheat bread. To finish his meal, he could pick either a piece of fruit or a dessert.
For dinner, Combsâwho arrived at the facility on October 30thâcould choose between cheese pizza and navy beans. The meal also included Italian pasta salad, green beans, and a garden salad.
Sean “Diddy” Combs has seven children: 34-year-old Quincy Brown, 27-year-old Christian Combs, 18-year-old twins D’Lila and Jessie Combs with Kim Porter, 31-year-old Justin Combs with Misa Hylton, 18-year-old Chance Combs with Sarah Chapman, and 2-year-old Love Combs with Dana Tran. If he wanted, Combs could purchase snacks like Honey Buns, Pop-Tarts, cheesecake squares, and Cheez-Its from the commissary at the New Jersey correctional center, according to a report from TopMob News.
Even though the rapper won’t be released until May 2028, he recently turned 56 while incarcerated. His children celebrated his birthday at home.
Christian shared a series of photos of his father, Sean Combs, on Instagram with a heartfelt birthday message. He wrote, ‘Happy birthday to the greatest dad in the world! I love you and miss you â canât wait to see you! #FreePops’

Chance posted a sweet birthday message to her father on Instagram, sharing a photo of them together on a boat. She wrote, “Happy birthday to the best dad!! I love you and miss you so much! Can’t wait to watch sunsets with you again.”
While on trial facing accusations of abuse from former girlfriends â including Cassie Ventura, who testified â the father of seven continued to have the support of his children.
I was there at the hearing on October 3rd, along with so many others who support him, and we all spoke up for him, explaining what a good person he is. Quincy â he’s been coming to court with Christian and Justin throughout all of this â actually told Judge Subramanian that his father has really turned his life around, according to what NBC News reported.
Justin asked the judge to be lenient with Combs during sentencing, calling him “the greatest in the world” and his lifelong hero.
As Combs continues his sentence, keep reading for a look back at his lengthy legal battle.

At the hearing on October 3, 2025, the judge sentenced him to over four years in prisonâspecifically, 50 monthsâalong with a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release.

The musician publicly apologized to Cassie Ventura and a woman named Jane during his sentencing hearing on October 3rd. This was the first time he had spoken about the case in court.
Combs acknowledged that the pain caused by his past domestic violence will stay with him always. He described his behavior as appalling and deeply regretted his actions, admitting he was struggling with drug addiction and lacked the support he needed. He took full responsibility and offered no justification for his behavior.
He went on to share how the case has impacted him.
He explained that he was simply doing his best, but got carried away with his ambitions and pride. This led to devastating consequences: he lost his freedom, couldnât be there for his family, lost his businesses and career, and ruined his reputation. Ultimately, he lost his self-respect and feels completely broken and humbled, admitting he currently despises himself and feels he has nothing left.

Judge Arun Subramanian set Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sentencing for October 3, 2025. The judge also refused to grant Combs bail before the sentencing, explaining that his history of violence meant he should stay in jail.

Following the trial, after Sean “Diddy” Combs was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges involving his former partners, Cassie and “Jane Doe,” but convicted of transporting them for the purpose of prostitution, his attorney released a statement regarding the outcome.
Attorney Douglas Wigdor stated on July 2nd that the legal proceedings began when his client, Cassie Ventura, bravely filed a civil lawsuit in November 2023. While the jury didn’t find enough evidence to convict Combs of sex trafficking, her testimony was crucial in leading to a guilty verdict on charges related to transporting someone for prostitution. Wigdor believes Cassieâs courage has had a lasting impact on both the entertainment world and the pursuit of justice.
Acknowledging the charges Combs denied, Wigdor emphasized, âWe firmly stand by our client and commend her bravery throughout this process.â
Wigdor also commended Ventura for her testimony, as she was one of 34 witnesses during the nearly month-long trial against Combs.
He stated that she demonstrated incredible courage and highlighted the long-standing issue of abuse of power by men, as well as the decades of unchecked misconduct. He emphasized that this case showed how urgently change is needed, and they will keep advocating for survivors.

When the verdict came inâfinding him not guilty on three of the five charges he facedâCombs dropped to his knees and bowed his head as if in prayer, NBC News reporters in the courtroom observed. He had faced a potential life sentence if convicted on all counts.
According to reports, Combs’ family members were in the courtroom and reacted with applause and cheers to the verdict. His lawyers embraced each other, and Combs shared a hug with his attorney, Brian Steel.

After three days of discussion, the jury of twelve reached a decision in the sex trafficking trial of Combs on July 2nd. They found him guilty on two counts related to transporting former girlfriends, Ventura and a woman known only as “Jane,” for the purpose of prostitution.
Sean Combs was acquitted of one charge of conspiring to commit racketeering and two counts of sex trafficking, despite having previously denied all accusations.
The jury informed Judge Arun Subramanian they couldn’t agree on the racketeering charge before delivering their final decision, citing strongly held, differing opinions. The judge urged them to keep discussing the case, and they ultimately reached a verdict a few hours later.

In her closing arguments to the jury, prosecutor Christy Slavik spent nearly five hours arguing that Sean âDiddyâ Combs used intimidation, threats, and force to control people and get what he desired.
She explained that he was incredibly stubborn and always got his way. He saw everything and everyone around him as existing solely to fulfill his needs.
Slavik highlighted two incidents involving Sean “Diddy” Combs: a physical assault on his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in 2016, and an alleged assault on his then-girlfriend in 2024, who is being referred to as “Jane” during the trial.
Although eight years apart, these two events are connected and represent parts of a larger storyâthe story of Sean Combs and the criminal group he ran with his close associates.
The criminal group consistently fulfilled the defendantâs wishes using a calculated pattern of violence, intimidation, and control, she explained. The defendant believed he could hide his crimes by relying on the silence and shame of others, and he thought his celebrity, money, and influence meant the law wouldnât apply to him.
Slavik claimed that during the trial, Combs benefited from a large team of employees dedicated to fulfilling his every need, bolstering his image, and shielding him from any negative publicity.

The prosecutors filed a request with the court to change some of their arguments about the attempted arson and kidnapping charges.
Despite still being charged with racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking â including allegations of kidnapping and arson â prosecutors have dropped attempted kidnapping charges based on the laws of both California and New York, as well as an attempted arson charge under California law. They also removed the charge of aiding and abetting sex trafficking, according to a letter filed on June 24th.
The government stated it hopes that using simpler language will make the instructions easier to follow and prevent misunderstandings.

Combs told JudgeSubramanian that he will not take the stand during his sex trafficking trial.
The judge made it clear that whether or not the defendant chose to testify, no one â not even the jury â could assume his guilt simply because he remained silent.
Combs admitted he discussed with his team whether or not to testify, but insisted the final decision was entirely his own.
âIâve given this a lot of thought, and this is what Iâve decided,â he told the judge. âItâs my choice, and I stand by it.â

Sean Combs’ lawyer, Teny Garagos, informed the judge that both sides â the defense and the prosecution â anticipate their closing statements will each last at least four hours.
After several days of testimony from Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Joseph Cerciello, the prosecution rested its case on June 24th. Combsâ defense team announced they will rely on the evidence already presented and will not call any witnesses of their own.

During his testimony on June 23rd, the jury saw explicit videos reportedly from parties hosted by Combs â often referred to as âfreak offsâ â and these videos were officially presented as evidence, according to NBC News reporters present in the courtroom.
The agent reported finding fifty explicit videos from 2021 and 2022, but the jury only viewed two of them, using headphones and individual screens.

In voicemails to his former chief of staff, Kristina Khorram, Sean Combs outlined a number of requests he had while staying at a hotel in November 2021. These included asking for more baby oil, which he said he often used when he became upset.
He told Khorram to have them call him before starting their journey. Then, seemingly surprised to be out, he added, “I crammed twenty bottles into this vehicle.”
Khorram agreed to stay at the hotel one extra night and let them know, “The baby oil is right outside the door.”
According to text messages, his former employee told him she was setting up an IV drip for him and Jane, which he had previously used to recover after intense competitions, referred to as “freak offs” in their messages.
She also made sure that there were Plan-B pills, an emergency contraceptive, in his nightstand.

The jury saw text messages between Combs and Ventura where Ventura openly described how the alleged abuse was affecting her.
In March 2017, after Combs suggested they take a break from their on-again, off-again relationship (which lasted from 2007 to 2018), Ventura responded that she didnât want a break and expressed feeling devalued and punished for asserting herself. She told him she didnât want to be made to feel unimportant or criticized for being independent.
In another instance, she further accused her ex of physically assaulting her.Â
In a letter from May, Ventura described a painful experience, stating that after showing affection, she was physically assaulted and dragged by her hair. She expressed that she was 30 years old and that the abuse had escalated beyond something she could tolerate. She also wrote about feeling detached from the experience, as if watching it happen to someone else, and finding a strange beauty in her own strength and resilience during the ordeal.

Brendan Paul, who worked as Sean Combsâ assistant from 2022 to 2024, testified that he bought drugs for Combs several times. These drugs included marijuana, 2C, cocaine, ketamine, and ecstasy.
Paul explained that they would contact the drug dealer by text, and the dealer would then come to one of their houses. He said he’d been connected with the dealer through texts or phone calls, and also mentioned being fired from jobs multiple times for things like forgetting his Lululemon fanny pack.
However, Paul vehemently denied being a âdrug muleâ for the rap mogul.

On June 18th, Judge Subramanian ended the court session for the day because one of the jurors was sick and couldn’t return. Court will also be closed on June 19th for the Juneteenth holiday.
The judge announced that a juror is ill and unable to attend today. They experienced dizziness and had to leave, and their partner informed the court. Because this juror is a regular member of the jury, the judge stated they won’t be able to continue with the trial today.
The judge said it wasn’t clear if the juror’s dizziness, nausea, and headaches â caused by a sudden bout of vertigo â would go away quickly or become a lasting problem, but they would keep an eye on it.
As a dedicated follower of the case, I learned that because of the Juneteenth holiday on June 19th, Judge Subramanian has scheduled a shorter trial session for June 20th. Weâll be back in court from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day.

Just after Judge Subramanian removed Juror No. 6 due to inconsistencies about where they live, another juror is now potentially facing removal. This juror is accused of discussing the case with a former coworker. The judge questioned the juror and asked to examine their phone, according to NBC News.
By the end of the court session on June 16th, a decision about whether to dismiss the member hadn’t been reached.

As a lifestyle observer, I saw Kanye West show up at the courthouse in New York City on June 13th to support Sean Combs. He was there for about half an hour, and while he did stop by the area where overflow attendees were waiting, he didnât actually go into the courtroom itself. That main room is reserved for Combsâ family, lawyers, and the media â plus, a lot of people were lining up really early to snag a seat!

Jane remembered a fight they had after she took a trip to Las Vegas with another rapper and his wife.
She stated that this behavior escalated to secretly watching sexual activity. Specifically, she described soliciting Anton, a sex worker she and Combs frequently employed, and witnessing a group of people watching him engage in sex with a woman in a hotel room during their trip.
Jane informed Combs’ lawyer, Geragos, that the music executive was angry because he believed she had gone to a sexually explicit event with another man.

On the 21st day of the Combs trial, the prosecutor, Maurene Comey, told the court her team wants to dismiss one of the jurors.
She told Judge Subramanian, just before the jury came in, that they were hesitant to submit the letter because it seemed dishonest and raised significant concerns for them.
Defense lawyer Alexandra Shapiro â noting that Juror No. 6 is one of the Black jurors â requested a day or two to prepare a written response and review relevant legal precedents.
Judge Subramanian stated he would postpone addressing any practical issues related to the juror until a ruling is reached.

On June 10th, Jane and Garagos had a heated discussion where Garagos implied the witness was exchanging sexual favors for expensive gifts.
Mark Geragos reviewed text messages from November 2021 between Jane and Sean Combs. The messages showed Jane was upset about Combs being with other women, and she specifically asked him if he’d bought one of them a Chanel bag after their encounter.
Jane said that she didnât get a Chanel purse from Combs, telling Garagos that she âgot trauma.â
When the attorney asked what a Bottega bag was, she replied, âIâm sure you have one.â
And when Geragos asked how much the item costs, Jane asked, âHow much does my body cost?â
Jane was granted a 10-minute break following the exchange.

Jane stated that in 2022, after researching their relationship, she came to believe Combs engaged in, or was interested in, the practice of cuckoldry â finding pleasure in witnessing their partner with another person.
She explained that the research helped her better understand why people enjoyed watching their partners with other men. She was trying to explore all the reasons behind that enjoyment.
The witness suggested that Combs’ interest in “hotel nights,” which closely resembled the “freak offs” described by Ventura, might stem from Combs exploring his own sexuality.
She explained that some individuals might harbor hidden curiosities they feel too embarrassed to explore personally. Instead, they might live out those curiosities through another person, experiencing them vicariously without direct involvement.

Jane stated sheâd given the escort, Paulâwhom she and Combs hired several timesâthe nickname âTrifecta,â explaining she likened their sexual relationship to the winning teamwork of famous basketball players.
âI was Kobe Bryant and Paul was Shaq [OâNeil],â she told jurors. âCombs was Michael Jordan.â
She said Paul was “really nice,” and explained that if she were to engage with sex workers, she preferred those who seemed kind and approachable.

Jane stated that the relationship between Combs and Khorram caused problems in her own romantic relationship with the music executive.
Jane explained that Khorram was constantly with her husband, Sean, which created problems in their marriage. She felt Khorram had strong feelings for her, and those feelings affected how Sean behaved towards her.

On June 10th, Judge Subramanian rejected a request for a mistrial from Combs’ lawyers. They had argued that Ventura and her friend, Bryana Bongolan, falsely claimed Combs had threatened to drop Bongolan from a 17th-floor balcony.
His attorneys argued in a court document that the prosecution acted improperly by presenting false testimony, a claim they previously made when requesting a mistrial, which the court had already rejected.
According to a recent letter, the government presented evidence in court that they either knew was false or should have known was false. This evidence concerned their claim that Mr. Combs threatened Bryana Bongolan by holding her over the balcony of Cassie Venturaâs apartment in September 2016. Because of this, the letter argues the court should declare a mistrial to prevent an unfair outcome.

Jane alleged that the rap mogul had beaten her for hours June 2024.
Jane stated that an argument with Combs started because he was seeing a much younger woman â 25 years his junior, she said. This argument escalated, leading Jane to call him a deeply offensive name and physically push his head against their kitchen counter.
The witness testified that she hid in the main bedroom, and Sean Combs began trying to force the door openâphotos of the damaged door were shown as evidence. She claimed that while she was attempting to escape, Combs kicked her in the thigh, causing her to fall.
Oh my god, it was terrifying. He just⊠grabbed me, put me in this awful chokehold, and threw me to the ground! I was completely lifted up, and I couldn’t get any air â I was literally standing on my tiptoes, desperate to breathe. All I could think about was escaping his grip, just getting away!
Jane stated she fled her house and hid behind an outside wall for about two hours, hoping the person would go away, but they didn’t. She then said they both went back to his house, and she curled up in the backyard to shield herself while he reportedly attacked her.

Jane testified that the fight worsened when Combs supposedly hit her. She told the court he began punching her head and kicking her, repeatedly hitting her while also yelling.
She alleged that he told her that she was âtrying to take him away from his kids and his family.âÂ
She testified that she told him, ‘No, I don’t want that. Please just leave me alone. Please stop.’ She said he then grabbed her arm and hair and began dragging her back toward the house, pulling her by her hair and arm.
Jane reported that after the attack, she had two raised bumps about the size of golf balls on her forehead, and a black eye.

Jane stated that agents from Homeland Security Investigations raided her home â which Sean Combs paid for in March 2023 â as well as several other properties owned by him. She explained that when the agents arrived, she immediately contacted Combsâ head of security to inform him of the raid.

In December 2023, Jane claimed a powerful person threatened to share intimate videos of them with the father of her child.
Jane testified that as her relationship with Combs fell apart, he told her he had nothing to fear from releasing the videos. She described the situation as a relentless series of pressuring phone calls.
Jane texted Khorram about what happened, and this conversation was later presented as evidence. In the messages, Jane stated that Combs was threatening to release a video, and she claimed she had been “heavily drugged” in it.
She explained she needed space from Combs to heal from the emotional pain he inflicted.
Jane told the court that Khorram assured her that Combs would not use the footage.

In her testimony, Jane stated that certain claims made in Ventura’s November 2023 lawsuitâwhich was later resolvedâmatched what she herself had gone through with Combs.
She told the jury, while crying, that she nearly passed out, and might have actually fainted. She explained that three particular pages contained deeply upsetting details that mirrored what she was going through.
Jane, a participant in the “hotel nights” events, described the experience as feeling deeply personal, like she was witnessing her own life unfold. This led her to reach out to Combs directly via text message to address what she’d seen.
After seeing the lawsuit, it felt like I was reliving my own experiences. It was deeply upsetting â she described everything so accurately, the drug use, the endless nights⊠it was all there. I knew, deep down, this was coming. He manipulated me, made me question my own sanity, and now itâs all coming out.
The messages expressed feelings of disgust and being pressured into repeated sexual acts. The sender felt invalidated and dismissed regarding their trauma, leading to feelings of violation and the belief that they had been sexually exploited.
Combs then called Jane and secretly recorded their conversation, which was later presented as evidence. During the call, he reminded her that they had shared experiences and stated he needed her present at a specific time.
Unaware she was being recorded, Jane told Combs she felt nauseous after reviewing Venturaâs documents.

Jane stated that during her involvement with Combs and male escorts in events called âHotel Nights,â she frequently used ecstasy. However, on one occasion, she chose to remain drug-free while engaging in sexual activity with three men.
She testified that she had been with several men earlier that night. She vomited, and then Sean entered the room, reassuring her that she would feel better and suggesting they go outside.
Jane said that at the end of the night, she felt âabsolutely terrible.â
