Taylor Frankie Paul is turning to music amid tough times.
It’s been over a week since ABC stopped airing her season of The Bachelorette following the release of a 2023 video showing a disagreement with her former partner, Dakota Mortensen. Now, the star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is sharing how she’s been spending her time.
Taylor, 31, showcased her piano skills in an Instagram video posted on March 29th, playing Kanye West’s song “Runaway” while wearing a gray hoodie and blue sweatpants.
She shared a post saying she’d unexpectedly discovered a talent, adding, “I think I could really have a future with the piano.”
Taylor’s legal issues are continuing to come to light. In addition to the consequences from a 2023 incident where she pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, Utah authorities recently confirmed they are investigating another domestic assault claim involving Taylor and Dakota, 33, stemming from a February argument. Following these accusations—which, according to police reports in People magazine, were made by both parties—filming for season five of SLOMW has been temporarily halted.
Police are also investigating a third reported incident of domestic violence between the former couple, who share a 2-year-old son named Ever. A West Jordan Police Department spokesperson told NBC News on March 24th that this incident allegedly happened in 2024 and was reported to the police by Dakota in February.

After the cancellation of her appearance on The Bachelorette, Taylor’s representative stated she was thankful for the network’s understanding as she focuses on keeping her family safe. Dakota, in a separate statement, said he’s prioritizing the safety of their son and hopes Taylor will do the same.
Honestly, I’m trying to focus on Taylor, but it’s hard when everyone’s talking about The Bachelor too! I mean, things are so messy right now with everything going on legally, and it’s making me worry about the show’s future. I just saw Rachel Lindsay – you guys, the Rachel Lindsay! – talking about how things are going, and it doesn’t sound great. She really knows her stuff, so it’s got me seriously concerned about what’s next for the franchise. I just want Taylor to be okay, but also, I need to know what’s happening with The Bachelor!
During the March 26th episode of the Hot Goss podcast with Eyal Booker and Lonnie Marts, Rachel stated, “It’s just…off.” She explained that she’s a logical person and has been trying to understand how to deal with the situation.
She acknowledged they’re a business and likely would figure things out, but she didn’t believe the franchise arrangement could continue. From her point of view, there was no viable path forward.
For now, keep reading for a closer look at Taylor and Dakota’s domestic violence scandal…

Taylor Frankie Paul, who gained popularity on TikTok as #MomTok, was arrested in Utah on February 17, 2023, following an altercation with her boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. According to court documents obtained by ABC 4 Utah, she allegedly threw metal chairs and a wooden playset at him while one of her children was present. She shares those children with her ex-husband, Tate Paul.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this case closely, and it’s deeply concerning. Court documents show Taylor is facing some very serious charges. Specifically, they’re accused of aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence – and what makes it even more heartbreaking, these incidents allegedly happened in front of a child, resulting in injury. On top of that, there are also charges of misdemeanor child abuse and criminal mischief. It’s a really difficult situation, and we’re all hoping for a resolution that prioritizes the safety and well-being of everyone involved.
According to court documents, the officer who arrived at the scene reported that Dakota said he had been arguing with his girlfriend. The officer stated that Dakota told him his girlfriend, Taylor, began hitting him when he tried to leave.

In August 2023, Taylor admitted guilt to a serious assault charge, a third-degree felony, as shown in court records obtained by the Salt Lake Tribune. Four other charges against Taylor were dropped and cannot be filed again.
For three years, the charge against her was put on hold. If Taylor followed the conditions of her agreement, it would then be filed as a Class A misdemeanor, according to court records.
As part of her agreement, Taylor was required to undergo assessments for substance abuse and domestic violence, and complete any treatment recommended, over the next three years. She also had to avoid breaking any major laws.

Taylor and Dakota welcomed their son a week ahead of schedule. On April 4, 2024, Taylor shared a photo from the hospital on Instagram, writing about how much they all love him and expressing gratitude for how he’s brought their families together. They’ve been enjoying the first two weeks with him.

Taylor told TopMob News that the fight with Dakota was definitely their lowest point.
She explained that he supported her because he understood what was really happening. “It was a terrible night, and I really regret it,” she said. Dakota himself had gone through a difficult time, so he truly understood what she was feeling. He told her, ‘I want to help you get through this.’
As for the confrontation itself, she later said the incident had been building up.
She revealed on the Viall Files podcast in September 2024 that she’d experienced an ectopic pregnancy a few months earlier, followed by a chemical pregnancy. While she doesn’t want to attribute it solely to hormonal imbalances, she acknowledges they likely played a role, saying she’s been feeling ‘pretty off’.
Taylor explained that she felt confused and upset after what happened. She admitted to drinking that night because she was feeling down, and Dakota was upset with her for doing so.
I recall being angry and throwing objects, and I didn’t even recognize my daughters who were on the couch. We had a babysitter, so they were probably upstairs asleep. Apparently, Dakota tried to tell me my five-year-old was there too, but I was so out of it that I didn’t care and just threw another chair.

The reality show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premiered on Hulu in September 2024, and the first episode of its first season showed footage of Taylor’s arrest in 2023.

Taylor publicly announced her breakup with Dakota in May 2025, following a revelation on the second season premiere of SLOMW. The show revealed Dakota had been unfaithful shortly after their son was born. Taylor shared the news on TikTok, stating, “Dakota isn’t mine anymore, wish him the best.”
We were living together and so happy with our new baby, and I was starting to think about getting engaged,” she shared on the show’s first episode. “Then I found out he’d been lying to me the whole time.
In a fourth-season episode of SLOMW, Dakota confessed to having an affair with a friend, Shinia Powell. During a FaceTime conversation with Taylor, Dakota admitted, “It was a mistake, and I probably should have chosen someone else. My biggest error was getting involved with someone who was clearly going to cause drama – it was really messed up of me.”

Okay, so this is huge news! Taylor is going to be the next Bachelorette for season 22 – she announced it herself on the Call Her Daddy podcast back in September 2025. Honestly, it’s a really interesting choice because usually, they pick someone who was a contestant on The Bachelor first. This is a bit of a shake-up for the show, and I’m excited to see how it plays out!
Taylor saw it as a positive development, sharing in a preview for the upcoming season, “I think this was meant to be part of my next journey.”
Taylor shared that she’s faced criticism, judgment, and rejection, but believes those who truly get to know her will see she’s sincere, has good intentions, and deserves another opportunity at love.

Just before Taylor started filming season 22 of The Bachelorette, a conversation between her and Dakota aired on season four of SLOMW. During this emotional talk, Dakota apologized for his relationship with Shinia, admitting it was a mistake and a poor decision.
He explained that both he and Taylor had caused each other pain, but he still felt they loved each other deeply.
The couple acknowledged their relationship was unhealthy, and Taylor believed appearing on The Bachelorette would ultimately be beneficial, even if they didn’t end up together. She felt it would provide a much-needed opportunity for both of them to heal and break free from their negative pattern.
Dakota let Taylor know he still had feelings for her, saying he was glad she was happy and wished her well if she found someone else. However, he playfully asked her to ‘save a rose for him,’ hinting that he hoped she hadn’t completely ruled out the possibility of them being together.

Production on season five of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives stopped in February 2026 following a reported argument between Taylor and Dakota.
On March 16th, a representative from the Draper City Police Department told People magazine that they were investigating reports of domestic assault involving Taylor and Dakota. The representative stated that both individuals had accused the other of wrongdoing. Police made contact with those involved on February 24th and 25th, but are not releasing further details while the investigation is ongoing.
According to a source who spoke with TopMob News, Taylor is taking responsibility for her actions and is primarily focused on shielding her son, Ever, from negative press coverage about himself or his father. She wants Ever to have a positive view of his father.

After Taylor and Dakota had a disagreement in 2026, TMZ released video of a physical fight between them that originally happened in 2023.
The video shows Dakota filming the altercation on his phone while Taylor shouts at him and tries to hit him, even briefly putting him in a headlock.
“Look,” Dakota can be heard saying, “this is called physical abuse.”
As things escalated, he told her their daughter was there, just as Taylor started throwing metal barstools at him. During the fight, Taylor claimed Dakota pushed her to the ground before he started filming, while he insisted she was responsible and asked her to help their five-year-old daughter. Taylor could later be heard shouting for him to stay away from her child.
According to a police report obtained by TopMob News in 2023, the child was struck by a stool.
Following the video’s release, a representative for Taylor told TopMob News that it was part of an effort to damage her reputation. They stated the video selectively presented information and was intended to shift attention away from Dakota’s behavior. Dakota, however, dismissed Taylor’s accusations as untrue.

Following the release of video showing a 2023 incident involving Taylor and Dakota, ABC announced it was cancelling season 22 of The Bachelorette. A Disney Entertainment spokesperson told TopMob News, “We’ve decided not to proceed with the new season right now, and our priority is supporting the family involved.”

Following ABC’s decision, Taylor broke her silence about the situation.
Taylor appreciates the support she’s received from ABC as she focuses on keeping her family safe. According to her representative, she’s been secretly dealing with years of severe mental and physical abuse and threats. Now, she’s finding the courage to confront the person responsible and is taking action to protect herself and her children from future harm.
It just breaks my heart to think about all the women out there going through this – being tormented by exes who are so controlling and jealous they can’t stand the thought of their former partners being happy. They just won’t let go, and so many women are quietly suffering because of it. It’s awful, and it needs to stop!
Taylor’s representative said she is considering her next steps, getting support from others, and will eventually talk publicly about what happened.

Dakota addressed claims of domestic violence involving him and Taylor, stating in a March 19th interview with TopMob News that the video of the incident is “deeply upsetting,” as anyone who has seen it would realize.
He said he’s become accustomed to false accusations regarding himself and their relationship, and he firmly denies them all.
Dakota said her priority is her son Ever’s well-being and safety, and she hopes Taylor will prioritize that as well.

According to documents obtained by People magazine on March 20th, Dakota was granted temporary custody of Ever after requesting a court order to protect her from Taylor. While a hearing is scheduled for April 7th to allow Taylor to present her perspective, the current order prevents either parent from spending time with Ever until then.

Okay, so I’ve been following everything, and it turns out there’s another thing the police in Utah are looking into! Apparently, back in 2024, Dakota actually went to them about something that happened, and she first told them in February. A spokesperson for the West Jordan police told NBC News about it today. They’ve talked to Taylor’s lawyer, but they still haven’t spoken to Taylor herself! They’re really hoping she’ll either write something down or agree to an interview so they can confirm what Dakota said. Honestly, I’m just glued to every update – I need to know everything!
