How many teams are part of LOVB?
As a huge League One Volleyball fan, I’m so excited about how quickly it’s growing! Right now, we have teams in six awesome cities: Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Madison, Nebraska, and Salt Lake City. But get this – they’re planning to add three more teams in 2027! I can’t wait to see them play in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Minnesota – it’s going to be incredible!
Does LOVB have any notable players?
The league currently includes 19 players who have competed in the Olympics, including Xiangyu Gong from LOVB Madison, who won a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. LOVB Nebraska also has two Olympic veterans: Ana Carolina da Silva and Anne Buijs, both of whom have participated in two Olympic Games.
Which celebs are involved in LOVB?
Besides Chelsea and Lindsey, the league’s initial investors also include Amy Schumer, Kevin Durant, and Candace Parker. Recently, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian also became involved, with his firm, Seven Seven Six, leading the ownership group for the new Los Angeles franchise.
In a December video posted on X (formerly Twitter), the tech entrepreneur—who has two daughters with Serena Williams—expressed his enthusiasm for the current state of women’s volleyball. He announced the arrival of a new team in Los Angeles, saying, ‘Get ready, LA, your new favorite team has just landed!’
