Where LeBron James Stands With Jaylen Brown After Bronny James Diss

LeBron Jamesis dribbling past this notable diss.

The Los Angeles Lakers player recently spoke about his relationship with Jaylen Brown, following a comment Brown made over a year ago regarding the NBA potential of his son, Bronny James.

LeBron James, 41, spoke to reporters after his team’s 111-89 loss to the Celtics on February 22nd. He said their relationship has generally been respectful, except for some comments the other person made about his son, Bronny, during Summer League. LeBron also mentioned the other person posted something about it on social media, but otherwise, things have been okay.

Jaylen caused a stir at the 2024 competition with his comments about 21-year-old Bronny James, who plays with his father on both the Lakers and their G League team. He seemed to tell fellow player Kysre Gondrezick that he didn’t believe Bronny had the skills to play professionally.

After the video quickly spread online, Jaylen explained that his comment came from his respect for LeBron.

The proud father shared on social media how special it is to play in the NBA with his son. He believes it shows a lasting legacy and that Bronny has everything he needs to succeed, and he’s excited to watch him develop as a player.

As a lot of you know, my family is incredibly important to me. Savannah and I are so proud of all our kids – Bronny, Bryce, and Zhuri – and it’s been amazing watching them grow. I also want to clear the air – there’s absolutely no conflict between me and Jaylen. Everything is good between us.

He said everything was fine, then playfully assessed his oldest son’s ability as a shooting guard. “Bronny still has a lot of improvement ahead of him, but we can talk about that later,” he added.

As his father predicted, Bronny has said the criticism he’s received since his first season has motivated him to improve his game.

He explained to The Athletic last March that he tries to ignore negativity and focus on staying positive at work. He acknowledges people often assume he’s emotionless, like a ‘robot,’ but he does have feelings.

Honestly, whenever people doubt me, it just makes me work even harder. It’s my motivation to get to the gym before anyone else, put in those extra hours of practice, and constantly study the game. It drives me to improve every single day.

Many people consider him the best basketball player ever, so it’s no surprise his sons, Jeffrey Jordan and Marcus Jordan, also wanted to play the game. After playing in high school, Jeffrey attended college at both the University of Illinois and the University of Central Florida, hoping to make a name for himself outside of his famous father’s legacy.

In 2005, Jeffrey told The Washington Post that while he didn’t consider himself among the best players in his state, he was determined to prove he deserved to compete and wasn’t just relying on reputation.

While studying at UCF, Marcus also played basketball, and he says his father was instrumental in helping him find his direction in life.

He shared advice whenever I needed it, but mostly he emphasized the importance of staying focused and working hard daily, believing that effort would eventually lead to success, he told The Gainesville Sun in 2011.

Bronny James (born LeBron James Jr. on October 6, 2004) played high school basketball at Sierra Canyon in the San Fernando Valley and later went on to attend the University of Southern California.

LeBron’s busy NBA schedule often makes it hard for him to see all of his son Bronny’s games, but he always makes a real effort to be there. He once even chartered a private plane on a day off just to watch Bronny’s team, Sierra Canyon, play against his old high school, St. Vincent-St. Mary, in Akron, Ohio.

LeBron told reporters that watching his son play against his former college team felt incredibly surreal and special, like everything had come full circle.

I was absolutely thrilled when Bronny was drafted to the Los Angeles Lakers in June 2024! It’s such a historic moment – he and LeBron will be the first father and son to play in the NBA together, and I can’t wait to watch them on the court!

LeBron James’s son, Bryce James, began his college basketball career at the University of Arizona in 2025.

Rounding out the Sierra Canyon team of stars is Zaire Wade, the oldest son of former Miami Heat player, Dwyane Wade.

Zaire, who joined the team in December 2019 after transferring from Florida, said they have to get used to the intense spotlight. He told Yahoo! Sports that cameras follow them everywhere, and while he’s used to attention, this is unlike anything he’s experienced before – it’s taken to a whole new level.

In April 2020, Zaire announced on Instagram that he was transferring to Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, Florida, because he wasn’t getting enough playing time.

Zaire was selected 10th overall in the 2021 NBA G League draft by the Salt Lake City Stars. He later played for the Cape Town Tigers in the Basketball Africa League and, in April 2024, signed with a team in the ASEAN Basketball League.

Former football player Cha’iel Johnson might be surpassed by his own daughter’s athletic achievements. She’s a talented track and field athlete who won the girls’ 800-meter race at the 2017 AAU Junior Olympics when she was just 12 years old.

She competed for St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida and later joined the track and field team at the University of Kentucky.

One of the NBA Hall of Famer’s children, who stands 6-foot-10, played college basketball at UCLA. However, his career was interrupted by a heart problem that needed surgery.

He sat out the 2018-19 season after leaving his California school and then transferred to Louisiana State University. LSU famously honors its alumni, including Shaq, with a 900-pound bronze statue outside the basketball practice facility.

After finishing his college career at Louisiana State University, the basketball player began his professional journey in 2022 with the NBA G League Ignite, a team designed to develop young talent for the NBA.

Shaquille O’Neal’s daughter, who is 6-foot-2, decided to attend LSU in 2020 to play basketball alongside her brother, Shareef O’Neal.

Choosing what to do after high school is a really big decision, and I’ve made mine! I’m a little nervous about what the future holds, but I’m definitely up for the challenge. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve committed to playing a sport at LSU with my brother, Shareef O’Neal. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to spend the next four years as a Tiger!

She joined the Texas Southern University basketball team for the 2021-2022 season.

The oldest daughter of a two-time NBA All-Star played basketball with Izela Arenas, daughter of Gilbert Arenas, while they both attended Sierra Canyon school.

Oh man, let me tell you about Coach Izzo at Michigan State! I was telling the Los Angeles Times back in 2020, he was just… intense! A real hard-nosed coach, you know? He could really push the guys, get right in there and demand everything. But with the girls? Totally different. They just had this way about them, so sweet and determined. They’d look at him, all earnest, like ‘Coach, I’m really giving it my all!’ And he just melted. He always had a soft spot for those girls, he really did.

MacKenly jokingly claimed she had won against her father in their one-on-one matchups three times, adding that he doesn’t bother trying to defend himself.

Terique, the 6’3″ son of an NFL Hall of Famer, initially joined Florida Atlantic University’s football team as a walk-on in 2019. He had primarily played basketball growing up, but transitioned to football as a teenager. He first played college football at Contra Costa Community College before transferring to FAU.

After his college football career, Terique signed with the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad.

A Sierra Canyon High School alum, he was a four-year starter and led his team to two state championships. He then played college basketball at Vanderbilt University before joining the Los Angeles Lakers in 2022 with a two-way contract.

In 2024, Scotty Jr. signed a contract with the Memphis Grizzlies that allowed him to play for both the Grizzlies and their G League affiliate, after a short time playing for the South Bay Lakers.

Michael Jordan, the legendary Chicago Bulls player and five-time NBA champion, is also a father.

Dennis Rodman Jr., also known as DJ, was a high school athlete at Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach, California, playing both basketball and football. He initially played basketball at Washington State University before transferring to the University of Southern California in 2023.

According to his high school coach, Ryan Schachter, he wasn’t getting the recognition he deserved in Southern California, as noted in the Orange County Register after a 2017 game.

After his college career, DJ joined Capital City Go-Go of the NBA G League in 2024.

While Dennis Rodman’s son followed in his footsteps by playing basketball, his daughter, Trinity Rodman, chose a different sport: soccer. After her first college season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, she turned professional in 2021, joining the Washington Spirit. In 2022, she also began playing for the United States Women’s National Soccer Team.

In 2024, Trinity won Olympic gold as part of Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

It’s not surprising that Tiger Woods’ son is a talented golfer. Charlie Woods first appeared on television playing golf with his father at the 2020 PNC Championship when he was just 11 years old.

Asked about practicing his golf swing before playing with his son, the 15-time major champion admitted he hadn’t. He explained he wasn’t focused on his own game, but on making sure his son, Charlie, had a great time and enjoyed the experience.
