Okay, so the festival is on in Jiuquan! When I first arrived at Skybrim Market, it was amazing – all lit up with these beautiful lanterns. But honestly, it feels like there’s more going on than meets the eye. I’ve been hearing whispers and rumors while exploring. If you’re like me and want to find every single Anecdote location around Jiuquan in Where Winds Meet, I’ve got you covered. This guide details everything I’ve discovered so far to help you on your quest!

Where to Find All Jiuquan Anecdotes in Where Winds Meet

To access this area, you’ll need to talk to the Wanderer’s Eagle, which will unlock the map. You’ll also need the Floating Glow cup to show you the way to Jiuquan. There’s a lot to explore and do here, including finding all 20 Anecdotes – some of which you’ll need to complete other tasks for first.

The map of Liangzhou Town in Jiuquan shown below highlights the locations of all the Anecdotes. Here’s an explanation of what those are:

Anecdote: How To Find: In Game Location:
Turbulent Times From the Skybrim Market Boundary Stone in Jiuquan, follow the path heading northeast around the mountainside before heading up the stairs on your left and turning left again by the soldiers nearby. Make your way across the pathway and wrap around the building on the left, where you can eavesdrop on an important meeting to get this Anecdote.
Thriving Prosperity Head back down the pathway and continue moving forward towards a group of people beside the crates, and you can speak to an NPC, Mi Luoduo, to learn about the trade routes to Skybrim Market to acquire this Anecdote. You may need to change the in-game time to around late morning (Wu) for the NPC to appear.
Mirage Mirror Pavilion From Mi Luoduo’s location, continue moving forward until you spot two armor-clad soldiers who are discussing the Mirror Tower and the destruction of the Flying Mirror Pavilion, which concludes this encounter.
Court’s Apprehension Continue down this path and stand right by the door where you can eavesdrop on a secret conversation between two Guiyi Army soldiers to obtain this Anecdote.
Circus Tracing your steps back to the main path along the mountainside from the previous location, continue heading up to find a circus tent and speak to the little girl to obtain this Anecdote. The Hidden Acts Encounter quest must be completed before triggering or completing this, and it can be discovered by the circus tent location.
Merchant’s Thoroughfare Travel south from the Skybrim Market Boundary Stone in Jiuquan towards the fork near Silkworm Lad’s Grocery Stall to the right side, where you can locate a couple of merchants, and speaking to Dou Tuotuo will secure this Anecdote.
Coexistence of Zoroastrianism and Buddhism From Dou Tuotuo’s location in the previous Anecdote, the next encounter can be located by following the path to reach a temple where you can listen to Wuhui’s words before moving to the next location. This Anecdote occurs during the early evening (You) hours, so changing the time to these hours may help.
Zhang Gui Builds the City Like with the previous Anecdote, this only occurs during the late night (Zi) hours before you can head inside the temple and speak to Wuhui once again.
Undercurrents of the Celebration Head outside the temple and look for two NPCs to your left, and follow the path going downwards to search the area for Nobu Shuang, where chatting to him will acquire this Anecdote.
This Loyalty Is Hard to Return Leave this area up the path before turning right, heading up towards the temple, where you can seek out another NPC, Jiacuo the Scarred, as speaking to him will complete this encounter.
Beneath Calm Waters Remain at the temple following the previous Anecdote, where you can change the time to the late night (Zi) hours, and eavesdrop on a conversation taking place inside the temple.
Purification of Sins Locate the Flowing Glow cup near the temple from the “Zhang Gui Builds the City” Anecdote by taking the pathway by two merchants heading up the cliff and interacting with it to travel to Purity Pagoda to find another temple. Interact with Zen Master Huiyuan and Shijue, as this interaction will only happen around the early morning (Wei) hours, so you can change them accordingly.
Night Rain Remain inside the temple for this Anecdote, where you can have a conversation with an NPC, Jingqian, to learn about what has happened to them and why they’re at the temple. This NPC can only be seen during the late night (Zi) hours.
Originating from the Raging Tides Return to the Skybrim Market Boundary Stone, where you must locate a disciple of the Raging Tides Sect, Yang Sangang, who can be found on the left side of the bridge around mid-morning (Si) hours but underneath it, and speak to him to obtain the Anecdote.
Patricide Feud Travel over the bridge from the Skybrim Market Boundary Stone to reach an intersection, where to your left is a merchant NPC selling traditional dragon masks, and jump onto the stall’s canopy and wait to eavesdrop on some secret chatter to get this Anecdote.
Unmarried… Resentment? Across the merchant NPC’s location, find the merchants Qiang Bu and Lai Yibei and jump or climb onto the canopy before eavesdropping on a nearby conversation to acquire this Anecdote.
Eternal Song From the merchant NPC’s location in the previous Anecdote, take the next left turn down towards a platform where you can speak to an NPC, Tang Yue, during the early evening (You) hours to record this encounter.
Land of Fine Wine Leave this area and head back to the market area and make a left turn, and peer behind some large crates to find Pu Zi, where you can strike up a conversation and record it for your Journal.
Mending Armor and Tending Fields Across from Pu Zi is another gentleman, Sun Mengliang, who shows you a diagram left to him by his master as part of this Anecdote.
Drumbeats Control the Market The final Anecdote is situated at the main temple in Jiuquan by crossing the bridge from the Skybrim Market Boundary Stone, and all that is required is to interact with the drums beside a soldier to record this Anecdote.

Once you’ve found all 20 Anecdotes in the Jiuquan area, you can view them in the Experience tab under Steed’s Pass, Liangzhou Town, within your Journal. Collecting these Anecdotes will reward you with Echo Jade and progress your Hexi Exploration, as well as help you finish quests and unlock all Boundary Stone teleport locations.
