Which Amiibo To Use In Animal Crossing: New Horizons For New Zelda And Splatoon Villagers

A major new update, version 3.0, is coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons on January 15, 2026! The update itself is free, but if you want to unlock special characters and items from Splatoon and The Legend of Zelda, you’ll need at least three Amiibo figures. Each of the four unlockable characters requires specific Amiibo from either Zelda or Splatoon – see the details below to find out exactly which ones you need.

Scanning certain Amiibo figures will unlock special furniture related to those figures. For instance, using any of the Zelda Amiibo will give you access to all the new *Zeldathemed furniture and clothing added in the 3.0 update. You can then find these Splatoon and Zelda items for sale in the “Promotional” section of the Nook Shopping menu at the Nook Stop ATM in Resident Services.

A highlight of the big 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the ability to unlock content and characters from The Legend of Zelda series. While you won’t be able to ride Epona again, two new villagers, Mineru and Tulin, are joining the game! They’re inspired by characters with the same names from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Currently, there isn’t a Mineru Amiibo available. However, Nintendo has announced that a “Mineru’s Construct” Amiibo will be released in the future. We expect this Amiibo will likely unlock the Mineru villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but this isn’t confirmed.

Which Amiibo Unlocks Cece Or Viché From Splatoon In ACNH

All Splatoon Furniture And Clothing Are Unlocked Using Any Of These Amiibo

Similar to the Zelda collaboration, Splatoon is adding two villagers to Animal Crossing: New Horizons as part of this exciting event. Cece and Viché aren’t new to Animal Crossing – they were originally in Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome Amiibo, but they looked quite different then.

In the game New Leaf, the characters Cece and Viché were designed to look like Callie and Marie from Splatoon. But for the newer game, New Horizons, Cece now looks like Shiver, and Viché resembles Frye.

Unlocks Cece Unlocks Viché
Callie Marie

Octoling Girl Inkling Girl
Octoling Boy Inkling Boy
Octoling Octopus Inkling Squid
Octoling (blue) Inkling Girl (lime green)
Smallfry Inkling Boy (purple)
Shiver Inkling Squid (orange)
Big Man Inkling Girl (neon pink)
Callie (Alterna) Inkling Boy (neon green)
Marina (Side Order) Inkling Squid (neon purple)

Frye

The large Splatoon Amiibo figure is unique because it can unlock two different characters, Cece and Viché. When you scan it, one of those two will appear randomly. It’s worth noting that Cece has fewer appearance options compared to Viché or any of the Zelda-themed villagers.

As mentioned earlier, using any of the listed Splatoon Amiibo figures will let you buy special Splatoon furniture and clothing at Nook Shopping. Similarly, Zelda Amiibo figures will unlock Zeldathemed furniture and clothing for purchase in Animal Crossing: New Horizons*.
