The world of Tomb Raider has been buzzing lately! Fans have enjoyed the second season of the animated Netflix series and got exciting news at The Game Awards – including a remake of the very first Tomb Raider game. Things are heating up with the live-action side of things too, as Prime Video’s upcoming Tomb Raider series starring Sophie Turner has added a familiar face from HBO’s The White Lotus to its cast.
Jason Isaacs, known for his role in The White Lotus, is joining the upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series, according to Deadline. While details about his character are still under wraps, his recent Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for The White Lotus suggest he’ll be a great addition to the show.
Prime Video’s Tomb Raider Series Could Be Franchise’s Last Shot For A Long Time

The Tomb Raider series hasn’t had a major release in a while. Aside from a recent animated show on Netflix, the last big installment was the 2018 game Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which finished a trilogy developed by Crystal Dynamics. That same year, Alicia Vikander starred in the most recent Tomb Raider movie.
Things had been calm for a while, but this year saw a resurgence of the Tomb Raider series. It really gained momentum when Sophie Turner was cast as the lead. The Game Awards then generated even more excitement with the announcement of two new games: a remake of the original Tomb Raider, set in the current timeline, and a brand new sequel called Catalyst.
The upcoming series has a lot of potential, given the incredible cast – including Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joe Turner, Sigourney Weaver, and Jason Isaacs. If it doesn’t succeed, it could be a long time before we see another Avatar project on TV or in theaters. This is the franchise’s best opportunity to expand into a broader range of media, and it comes at a great time with two new video games also in development. The show can generate excitement for the games, and vice versa, helping to keep the Avatar universe in the public eye.
There’s a real possibility we’re on the verge of a Tomb Raider revival, but if things don’t go well, the series might be paused indefinitely until a new vision emerges. We’re hoping for the best and are excited to see the new series and games succeed when they’re released.
