In both the comic books and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Vision has faced significant setbacks. Fans witnessed Thanos eliminating Vision in “Avengers: Infinity War”, and even when he returned in “WandaVision”, there were two distinct iterations of the Android Avenger. In the comics, Vision lost his spouse Virginia and their son Vin. Despite these numerous losses, Vision remains steadfast as a hero. A recent alteration has left him altered, possibly permanently. Scarlet Witch stands by his side, and together they aim to uncover the dark scheme of the Grim Reaper. However, there’s an unexpected twist: a loved one is revived, which may complicate matters. Spoiler Alert: The following discusses events from The Vision & The Scarlet Witch #2.
As a movie reviewer, I’d put it this way: “In my latest review, we delve into issue #2 of ‘The Vision & The Scarlet Witch’. Penned by Steve Orlando, Lorenzo Tammetta, Ruth Redmond, and lettered by Travis Lanham, this comic continues from the moment when Scarlet Witch used her powers to resurrect Vision. However, the Vision is now in a fragile state, leading Scarlet Witch to escort him to the Clutch Dimension for some relaxation. Here, we discover that not only are Vision’s abilities at their peak, but also his emotions, which adds an intriguing layer to his character. With a shared mission, they embark on a joint investigation into Grim Reaper and his Death’s Doors – enigmatic portals that entice people with the prospect of reuniting with deceased loved ones, only to lead them towards untimely demise.
Upon reaching a place in Washington D.C. ominously titled “Death’s Door,” an individual self-proclaimed as the “Doorman of Death” is collecting entrance fees. Vision, seething with anger, nearly loses control, but Scarlet Witch intervenes to prevent him from attacking the Doorman. Despite their uncertainty about what lies beyond the door, Vision and Scarlet Witch proceed, discovering an unexpected dear one on the other side.
Vision Reunites With His Dead Son, Vin Vision
On the far side of Death’s Door, Vision and Scarlet Witch discover the realm known as Graverealm, the abode of the Grim Reaper. This malefactor has a significant past with both heroes, being the sibling of Simon Williams, who is well-known by his alter ego, Wonder Man. Scarlet Witch expresses her inability to detect the Earthly plane, while Vision’s sensors suggest they’ve transcended it. He explains that the Graverealm appears as large as a small galaxy. Inside its halls, there are several faceless beings standing motionless, but one voice echoes with the same tone as the original Vision – it is none other than their deceased son, Vin Vision.
In the 2015-2016 “Vision” series by Tom King and Gabriel Hernandez Walta, readers were introduced to Vision’s family – his wife Virginia, and their twin children Vin and Viv. However, the peace of this family was shattered when they faced a tragic turn of events following an attack by the Grim Reaper. In an attempt to protect her kids, Virginia ended up killing the Grim Reaper and buried him in their backyard. Unfortunately, young Vin met his untimely end at the hands of Vision’s brother, Victor Mancha, during a misunderstanding while he was spying on the family for the Avengers. To add to the sorrow, Virginia took her own life later as a way to absolve herself from her multiple wrongdoings.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it appears that when Wanda Maximoff dismantled her hex over Westview during “WandaVision”, it seemingly eliminated Vision and their children, Billy and Tommy. Yet, in “Agatha All Along” we witness Billy reappearing as the Young Avenger known as Wiccan, while White Vision from “WandaVision”, who was constructed using fragments of the original Vision, embarked on a journey to discover himself following a confrontation with Hex Vision, leaving his whereabouts unknown.
In the past, Vision has lived with Viv and his dog Sparky, but now Vision is taken aback by what seems to be Vin’s “resurrection.” We use quotes because we’re uncertain if this is truly Vin. This could be a trick by Grim Reaper to strike at Vision emotionally, by bringing back his deceased son. However, since this is a comic book, it was inevitable that Vin would come back eventually. Whether or not Vin survives the end of The Vision & The Scarlet Witch is another matter entirely.
