The popular show Celebrity Race Across the World returns with a new season! This time, celebrity pairs are traveling from a Caribbean island, through several checkpoints, and ultimately aiming for the finish line in Colombia’s La Guajira Peninsula – a region considered the gateway to South America. Like past seasons, the celebrities are challenged to complete the journey with a limited budget – this season, as little as £30 per day, making it one of the tightest budgets yet. To make things even more difficult, they aren’t allowed to use smartphones or the internet for help.
Anita Rani and Balvinder ‘Bal’ Singh Nazran are competing to win and be the first to finish! Here’s a look at the pair before their first episode airs.

Anita Rani is a well-known presenter on radio and television. She’s been a co-host on the popular show Countryfile for the last decade and has presented Woman’s Hour on BBC Radio 4 since 2021. She also competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015, reaching the semi-finals.
She’ll be running the race with her father, Balvinder Singh Nazran, a 69-year-old semi-retired businessman.
In an interview with TopMob magazine, Anita revealed that she and her father had their first disagreement just an hour into the race, stemming from her accidentally running onto the track, as Bal explained.
Anita recalled being filmed while her dad scolded her, and she reacted like a typical teenager – she stomped her foot and sulked.
Why did Anita and Bal want to take part in Celebrity Race Across the World?
Anita explained that her dad entered the race as a way for them to bond while traveling, something they didn’t get to do much of when she was growing up.
Growing up, we didn’t go on many vacations because my parents were always working. My mom said my dad didn’t really have a choice about taking on so much work!” she shared with TopMob magazine.
Bal explained that his daughter asked if he was ready for an adventure. He initially thought it would be a short trip, but he was excited about the possibility and eager to get to know Anita better. He and Anita seemed to have a lot in common – they were both outgoing, independent, and shared a similar sense of humor.
