It’s now been revealed who Graham Foster, a character recently back in Emmerdale, was holding hostage: Jodie, played by Olivia Frances Brown, who appears in Coronation Street.
The character was first introduced during the big Corriedale storyline earlier this week. They appeared after a car crash on a stormy night in Connelton.
I have to say, the opening scene immediately grabbed me. We’re stuck in traffic – a total standstill because of a motorway closure – and you can feel the tension building. This van pulls up, and the driver, a guy named Graham, just radiates bad vibes. He’s clearly not happy, and it’s brilliantly unsettling. It’s a simple setup, but it immediately establishes a sense of dread and makes you wonder what’s about to happen. The director really knows how to build atmosphere right from the start.
He glanced backwards at a tied and bound woman in the back.

Luckily, she managed to escape by the end of the episode and fled into the woods. Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) pursued her, shouting for her to stop. When she turned around, she tripped and collided with a tree.
While checking the cable ties binding her wrists, we noticed a tattoo she had that was identical to the one on Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding’s) back.
Now in Hotten General, it was surely only a matter of time before the women came face-to-face.
Shona and her husband, David, were worried before her operation. She’d gone into labor early, and the surgery was necessary to give their baby, who has a concerning growth on its neck, the best chance of survival.

Thankfully, the surgery went well, and the parents were able to stay in the intensive care unit to care for their newborn.
Shona hadn’t wanted to pick a name, worried she might not make it. But David had already considered it. After talking to the surgeon that day, he decided on Harper, taking inspiration from the doctor’s last name.
Jodie looked through the blinds and saw Shona being wheeled down the hall. A nurse spotted her watching and asked if she was the mother of one of the babies in the intensive care unit.
Jodie explained she wasn’t a mother, but an auntie.
