Alright, folks, get ready – The Apprentice is back! I can’t believe it, but we’re heading into the 20th season of this reality TV staple, and it’s premiering on BBC One. I’m already bracing myself for the drama, the tasks, and Lord Sugar’s famously blunt critiques. Let the firing begin!
This week on the show, the candidates are in Hong Kong facing the classic task of buying goods. They’ll have to navigate unfamiliar surroundings, work quickly, and demonstrate strong business skills to succeed.
Rothna Akhtar is one of the contestants trying to win over Lord Alan Sugar, and she believes her strength lies in quickly identifying problems that others miss.
I’m really curious to see how Rothna does on The Apprentice! It’s still early days, but I’m excited to learn more about her – so keep reading to find out all about this 2026 candidate.
Who is Rothna Akhtar?

Occupation: Student wellbeing adviser
Location: East London
Rothna Akthar is a student wellbeing advisor who also runs a bakery called Rothna’s Bakery, and she’s hoping to impress Lord Sugar with her business.
Rothna’s hobby of baking part-time has taught her to be meticulous, not just with recipes, but in all aspects of her life. Combined with her experience in wellbeing, where she quickly understands people, she believes she has a unique skillset that Lord Sugar hasn’t encountered before.
She explained that many people think success in business means being ruthless, but she disagrees. You can make tough choices while still being honest and ethical. She’s always been confident – and noticeable – and believes she’s earned her position. She’s capable, can handle stress well, and isn’t afraid to challenge those who act as if they deserve special treatment.
What is Rothna Akhtar’s business plan?
Rothna’s business plan is to expand her part-time business into a threefold physical space.
I’m so excited about Rothna’s new business! Basically, she’s doing custom cakes for any occasion, but it’s way more than that. She’s also offering really fun, hands-on baking workshops – think of it as the new pottery painting, but with cakes! And if you just want to get creative and design your own cake flavors, she has a personalized cake bar for that too. Honestly, it sounds like the perfect place to treat yourself and have a fun, relaxing day!
Is Rothna Akhtar on social media?
You can find Rothna on Instagram at @rothna.a, where she currently has over 3,000 followers.
Her business, Rothna’s Bakery, is also active on social media and can be followed @rothnasbakery.
