Strictly Come Dancing said goodbye to another celebrity and their professional partner this week, despite a night of impressive performances during Halloween Week.
Last night, the judges gave out their first perfect score of the season, but it wasn’t a great night for everyone. Four couples didn’t reach 30 points and ended up with lower scores.
After the initial rounds, Ellie Goldstein and Vito Coppola, along with Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon, were selected to compete in a dance-off.
Well, after a final round of dances, the judges – Anton, Craig, and Motsi – all agreed. It was a tough decision, but ultimately they chose to keep Balvinder and Julian in the competition, meaning Ellie and Vito were unfortunately eliminated. It was a unanimous vote, and definitely a sad moment for those two.
Shirley Ballas said she would have voted to keep Balvinder and Julian, even though she wasn’t obligated to vote. She also praised Ellie, saying she performed exceptionally well throughout the entire competition.
After they were eliminated, Tess Daly told Vito that it was clear to everyone – the crew, the viewers, and especially him and Ellie – how strong and meaningful their partnership had been.
Let me tell you, witnessing Vito speak to Ellie was genuinely moving. He confessed, and I’m quoting here because his words were that powerful, that he was beyond proud of her. He said she’d fundamentally changed his life, and honestly, made him a better man. It wasn’t just a platitude; you could feel the sincerity. It was a beautiful moment, and a testament to the impact she had on him.
Earlier this year, I wished for someone special to come into my life, and now you’ve arrived. It feels like a dream come true.
I always dreamed of having a little sister, and now I do! You’re my little sister, and I’ll always be here for you as your big brother.
Ellie said she had a wonderful time dancing with Vito, describing him as a genuinely kind person who was everything she’d hoped for. She thanked him for being so warm and considerate.
Vito then affirmed that the pair would continue to dance together despite their elimination.
Now that only nine couples are left on Strictly, next week’s show promises to be special. The dancers will perform alongside the Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment to honor Remembrance Sunday.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 1st November at 6:35pm.
