Strictly Come Dancing said goodbye to one of its celebrity contestants and their dance partner this weekend after the show’s Icons Week performances.
Although Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Lauren Oakley, and Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin both scored highly with the judges, they ended up in the bottom two based on the public vote and had to compete against each other.
After the dance-off, the judges – Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, and Anton Du Beke – all agreed to keep Amber and Nikita in the competition.
As a result, it meant Jimmy and Lauren were eliminated from the competition.
After Sunday’s show, former Chelsea footballer spoke with Tess Daly, sharing how much he enjoyed his time on the show. He revealed that his American Smooth to Purple Rain during Icons Week was his best dance of the season.
I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and want to thank my daughters for encouraging me to participate. I honestly didn’t think I’d enjoy it as much as I have.
Lauren was very upset to be voted out, saying, “We’ve had so much fun, and I’m incredibly proud of how far he’s gotten.”
Honestly, watching him dance was incredible – it really showed me that anyone can achieve anything with dedication. The fact that he’s a footballer and then performed like that was just mind-blowing! I’m so incredibly proud and feel truly privileged to have had the chance to teach him.
Only ten couples remain on Strictly Come Dancing after Stefan Dennis had to leave due to an injury, meaning one fewer couple than expected at this point in the competition. They will all perform next Saturday during Halloween Week.
During yesterday’s show, Tess and Claudia Winkleman spoke about their plans to leave the BBC series at the end of the year, expressing gratitude to fans for their kind messages. Meanwhile, La Voix playfully joked about their upcoming departure.
