Who won The Summit? Winners crowned after terrifying ascent

More than a month ago, ITV took viewers to the stunning Southern Alps of New Zealand to follow 14 everyday British people as they embarked on a challenging mountain climb.

With each mountain they conquered, the group moved closer to winning a portion of the £200,000 prize, but only some would make it to the very top.

Throughout the competition, contestants left for various reasons – some quit, some were eliminated by votes, and others had to withdraw. Now, after weeks of challenges, only four finalists remain, set to compete tonight, March 17th.

Okay, so Warren, Dockers, Colleen, and Drew were really pushing it as they made their final climb to The Summit. It wasn’t easy – they faced some serious challenges, including a treacherous crevasse they had to cross. One of them completely froze up, and another had a tough time because of this creepy figure, the Mountain’s Keeper, who was really messing with their head. It was a nail-biting sequence, let me tell you!

After a grueling physical and emotional challenge, the remaining players had to make a final decision about who would be eliminated, before Drew, Dockers, and Colleen were declared the winners.

When they finally reached the summit, the three friends embraced, realizing the incredible accomplishment they’d shared throughout the competition.

One winner described this as the most significant accomplishment of their life, adding, “It proves that self-belief can make anything possible.”

Before the finale, ITV spoke with host Ben Shephard about his favorite part of the show. He especially loved filming in New Zealand and working with the incredibly talented crew, who he said made even the most difficult tasks seem effortless. He also enjoyed meeting all the brave contestants who took on the challenge.

The response to the show has been incredible. It’s unlike anything I’ve had the chance to work on before, and it’s been amazing to see it air on ITV and ITVX. I’ll always treasure my experience filming on location.

It’s pretty standard stuff, honestly – just a way to keep the bots away!

The Summit is available to watch on catch-up on ITVX.
