Following the death of Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Cosby Jr., after a struggle with drug addiction, Andy Cohen, host of Watch What Happens Live, explained why he didn’t attend the 23-year-old’s funeral on March 7th.

Andy, father to Ben, 7, and Lucy, 3, explained on his SiriusXM radio show, Andy Cohen Live, that he couldn’t attend Robert Jr.’s service in Salt Lake City on Saturday because he had a busy weekend with his kids. He did, however, get a detailed account of the ceremony, which he heard was truly remarkable.

Although she couldn’t be there, Mary received support from her fellow Real Housewives, including Kyle Richards, Cynthia Bailey, and Shereé Whitfield. Cast and crew members from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City – like Heather Gay, Lisa Barlow, Meredith Marks, Bronwyn Newport, Whitney Rose, Angie Katsanevas, and Britani Bateman – also showed their support.

Andy praised Kyle, Cynthia, and Shereé for attending, saying he appreciated their kindness and considered them genuine friends.

Andy shared that Mary, the First Lady of Salt Lake City’s Faith Temple Pentecostal Church, drew on her experience as a pastor when planning the event to remember her son.

He described the service as incredibly inspiring and emotionally powerful, almost ecstatic. He also said Mary seemed deeply moved and connected to something spiritual during the service.

Andy finished by mentioning that Kyle told him Robert Jr.’s father, Robert Cosby Sr., gave an amazing speech.

Robert Jr. died on February 23rd, and police are investigating the incident as a possible overdose, according to Salt Lake City Police Department officials. The exact cause of death is still under investigation by the medical examiner.
