ITV is making significant changes to its daytime TV lineup, impacting both ‘Lorraine’ and ‘Loose Women‘. These changes are due to budget reductions.
On the March 6th episode of Loose Women, Kaye Adams announced that the show will be taking a break from television for a while.
As part of a larger change to the TV schedule, the popular ITV show will no longer air year-round. Instead, it will follow a seasonal schedule lasting 30 weeks. Episodes have also been shortened from 60 minutes to 30 minutes, resulting in the show having over 70% less airtime than before.
Loose Women was temporarily taken off the air to accommodate coverage of the 2026 Cheltenham Festival, which took place from March 10th to 13th. It will continue its break as planned and is expected to return next month.
Lorraine is also changing – it will now only air for 30 weeks of the year, with each episode shortened to half an hour. The show is currently off-air and is expected to return in April, though a specific return date hasn’t been announced. Both shows are awaiting confirmation of their comeback dates.

In May 2025, ITV’s Kevin Lygo explained that upcoming cuts are intended to free up funds for investment in other types of programming.
According to Lygo, daytime television is a key part of their programming, and recent changes to scheduling and production will ensure they can continue providing viewers with the news, discussions, and trusted presenters they enjoy. These changes will also free up funds to invest in other types of programs.
For over 40 years, daytime television has been a key part of ITV’s programming, and these changes will ensure ITV can continue delivering high-quality news, opinions, and discussions for many years to come – as we begin our eighth decade of broadcasting.

Coleen Nolan shared with The Mirror that while Loose Women isn’t being cancelled, the show is undergoing some changes, which she’s relieved about.
The show will be quite different this time, mainly because of a smaller crew, but it’s still happening – and it should! There simply aren’t many shows that champion and include women of all shapes, sizes, and ages.
It’s really tough seeing some coworkers uncertain about their future, especially since many of them have young children and financial responsibilities like mortgages.

Lorraine explained on Instagram that she’ll be taking a break for several weeks, not due to illness, but because of adjustments being made to the show.
We’re currently working for 30 weeks out of the year, which means it’ll be a while before we connect again. I really appreciate your support during all these transitions, and I wanted to thank you for staying with me.
I look forward to being back on the air and seeing you then. I’m truly grateful for your support and really appreciate you watching. Thank you so much!
Because Lorraine now starts her show at 9:30am, Good Morning Britain has been extended. It now airs daily from 6:00am to 9:30am. On days when Lorraine isn’t on air, the show continues until 10:00am.

I’m a big fan of Phoebe Kowhai Barnes’ work! She’s a talented Freelance Writer who really knows her pop culture, and you can find her writing for TopMob. Before that, she was a leader at The Tab, managing their local team – clearly a natural manager! She has a solid background too, with a BA in English Literature from the University of Nottingham. It’s no surprise she’s doing so well!
