Why Bridgerton Fans Are Appalled by This Season 4 Plot Hole

One moment in Bridgerton season four could have confused even Lady Whistledown herself.

Viewers have been curious about what happened to Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha)’s white glove after it was an important part of the first four episodes, which premiered on Netflix January 29th.

In the second episode, Sophie, the Earl of Penwood’s unrecognized daughter, secretly goes to the Bridgerton’s masquerade ball. She wears a silver dress she found in the attic and a pair of old white gloves. While dancing with Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), they share a romantic moment, and he gently removes one of her gloves. When Sophie quickly leaves the party, Benedict is left holding only the glove – a scene reminiscent of Cinderella losing her glass slipper.

After Sophie’s stepmother, Araminta (Katie Leung), forces her to leave, Sophie deliberately takes one of the gloves with her. But later, it seems she accidentally leaves the glove behind at the Cavenders’ house, where she’s working as a maid, when she reconnects with Benedict at the end of episode two.

Viewers quickly noticed she didn’t bring her glove with her to Benedict’s cottage. One fan commented on Instagram, saying they couldn’t stop thinking about how she’d left her bags – and the glove inside – behind.

One person joked they couldn’t stop thinking about it, and another agreed, saying they were also stuck on it.

However, some viewers suggested a way to resolve the plot issue. They noted that Sophie’s coworker, Hazel (played by Gracie McGonigal), could have easily delivered the items to her when they both started working at Bridgerton House.

One Instagram user explained they kept dwelling on something, so they decided to tell themselves a coworker had taken care of it to stop overthinking.

However, the idea isn’t perfect. One person expressed their frustration, saying, “It’s really bothering me. I even hoped the second housekeeper might have them, but she didn’t.”

Viewers have spotted a few mistakes in the first half of season four, which is based on Julia Quinn’s An Offer From a Gentleman. One noticeable error is a missing glove, and another is a small, skin-colored bandage covering an earring piercing on the actress playing Araminta, visible in the first episode.

“Bandaids in this era?!” one person wrote on TikTok. “The ton want to know.”

Someone else commented that they wished the item had been presented more attractively, suggesting a decorative ear cuff could have been added.

Before the second half of Bridgerton season four arrives on Netflix February 26th, here’s a peek behind the scenes of the show.

While filming, Luke Thompson, who plays Benedict Bridgerton, and Claudia Jessie, who plays Eloise Bridgerton, passed the time by playing a clapping game.

Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, and her co-star Eloise (also Penelope) seemed very friendly and happy while filming, suggesting a close bond between the characters and actresses.

While filming on a cold day, Hannah Dodd (who plays Francesca Bridgerton) had some fun making funny faces with Claudia.

Victor Alli, who plays John Stirling, recently shared a humorous story about filming season four of Bridgerton.

Even when it rained during filming, the actors—including newcomers Yerin Ha as Sophie, Katie Leung as Lady Araminta Gun, Michelle Mao as Rosamund Li, and Isabella Wei as Posy Li—were prepared with umbrellas.

There were clearly no ruff moments behind the scenes.

The actors smiled for the cameras while staying warm on set, where they’re filming a romance between characters named Benedict and Sophie.
