Ruth Gemmell didn’t expect to burn so bright during Bridgerton season four.

Ruth Wilson, who plays Violet Bridgerton in the Netflix series, was surprised to learn her character would have a sex scene. She only found out about the storyline while she was getting fitted for her costume, and the scene involves Lord Marcus Anderson, played by Daniel Francis.

I was really surprised,” Gemmell recently told Ciné-Télé-Revue. “I was at a costume fitting when it hit me – they were preparing clothes for something I hadn’t been told about at all.”

She shared on Craig Melvin’s Glass Half Full podcast that they’re considering stories beyond the main Bridgerton plot. She specifically mentioned Violet Bridgerton, the mother in the series, as a character with a compelling story that could be explored in a spinoff. She believes this could be a really fruitful avenue for the show.
