Why Charlie Sheen Didn’t Ask Jon Cryer to Be in Netflix Documentary

Charlie Sheen might’ve gotten two and a half digits wrong.

Charlie Sheen shared that Jon Cryer was the only former co-star he didn’t reach out to for his Netflix documentary, *aka Charlie Sheen*, but he clarified it wasn’t due to any bad feelings between them.

Charlie told *People* magazine in an interview on September 3rd that he didn’t have the director’s contact information, so the director contacted him directly.

Jon, who is 60 years old, agreed to participate in the two-part documentary after director Andrew Renzi contacted him. Charlie, also 60, was very pleased with how the interview turned out.

After hearing Jon speak so openly and with such kindness, I reached out to him in a letter. I thanked him for everything he’d done and apologized for not having a chance to meet him in person. I also said I hoped our paths would cross again on campus.

Charlie didn’t hear back from Jon, so he had to publicly ask for his help.

Jon usually gets back to people right away-he’s very reliable. So, if you’re seeing this, Jon, please send me a direct message with your new phone number!

Charlie believes Jon was deeply moved by his story because Jon personally understood the pain of addiction. Charlie struggled with substance abuse, which ultimately led to his firing from *Two and a Half Men* in 2011 after eight seasons. He was replaced by Ashton Kutcher, who continued the show for four more seasons until its conclusion in 2015. Charlie is the son of Martin and Janet Sheen.

Charlie explained that Jon was dealing with a very difficult situation that was impacting his life, family, and work. Charlie added that he fully agreed with everything Jon had to say and wouldn’t argue with it.

Charlie, who has been sober for almost eight years, recently admitted he still feels regret about leaving the show.

Charlie admitted, “If I’d made different choices, my life could be completely different now. Things wouldn’t be as difficult as they are. But it’s impossible to say for sure.”

I’m going to miss him so much, but I hope he’s okay!

In July 2025, the Bravo star, who is going through a difficult divorce with Brittany Cartwright, explained that his priorities are getting sober, improving his mental health, and being a good coparent. I’m absolutely devastated! It feels like everyone I adore on *Saturday Night Live* is leaving! Seriously, within just a few days, so many of my favorite cast members announced they won’t be back for Season 51. It’s like the show is losing its heart, and I’m honestly heartbroken. Longfellow and Walker each spent three seasons on SNL while Wakim exited after just one season.

Following the departures of Longfellow, Walker, and Wakim from *Saturday Night Live*, two more popular cast members, Gardner and Nwodim, announced they wouldn’t be back for the show’s 51st season. Gardner had been with the show for eight seasons, and Nwodim for seven.

I’m still reeling from it, honestly! Sofia Mattsson, my absolute favorite, left *General Hospital* as Sasha Gilmore back in the summer of 2025 after *seven years*! Seven years of brilliance! It broke my heart, but her character just moved to Paris, so at least it wasn’t… permanent. I’m hoping for a return someday, but it’s just not the same without her in Port Charles.

Tracy Ifeachor, who starred in the popular HBO Max series *The Pitt*, decided not to return after its successful first season.

The actress shared on Instagram on July 10th how honored she was to play Dr. Heather Collins in the show’s impactful first season. She also thanked viewers for watching, supporting the season, and sharing their personal experiences with her.

Even though fans likely expected Joel Miller, played by Pedro Pascal, to die – his fate in April 2025 closely mirrored the events of *The Last of Us Part II*, the video game the second season of *The Last of Us* is based on – the shocking way his character was killed still came as a surprise.

Pascal, known for dying in roles on shows like *Game of Thrones* and *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*, wasn’t surprised by his character’s fate. He jokingly told *Entertainment Weekly* that he’s “used to dying” and actually enjoys it.

Following what he called a “wild adventure,” Peter Krause finished his run as Captain Bobby Nash on the drama *9-1-1* with an episode airing in April 2025.

According to a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, the character Bobby Nash was intentionally created to be a selfless hero. Creator Dick Wolf explained that first responders routinely put themselves in danger to save others, and Bobby Nash’s storyline is meant to pay tribute to their bravery.

Showrunner Tim Minear told Variety that killing off the popular, yet troubled, firefighter was a big decision. However, after eight seasons, he felt it was necessary to raise the stakes for future storylines. “Someone’s got to die,” he explained, “if we want to create stories that really matter.”

Summer just got a little less fun.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m sharing the news that Paige DeSorbo has decided to leave the Bravo series after seven amazing seasons. She announced her departure back in June 2025, and while we’ll miss her, it’s exciting to see what she does next!

In February 2023, Ellen Pompeo finished her run as the main character, Meredith Grey, on the ABC drama after 19 seasons.

Pompeo admitted on *The Drew Barrymore Show* in December 2022 that she needed a change. She explained that you can’t keep doing the same thing, like *The New York Times* crossword, every day.

Boone described her time on the show as “a dream” in an Instagram post following her departure in 2021.

The second season of *Bridgerton* didn’t feature the Duke, as Rege-Jean Page, who became a fan favorite in the first season of the popular Netflix drama, chose not to return in 2021, disappointing many viewers.

He told *Vanity Fair* that he simply did the work he’d agreed to, and then took on additional assignments. He admitted he wished there was a more exciting story behind it all.

Ruby Rose first appeared as Batwoman (Kate Kane) in a 2018 Arrowverse event and then led the CW’s *Batwoman* series for one season. This was a landmark moment, as she became the first openly lesbian superhero to star in her own show. However, Rose announced her departure from the series just two days after the season one finale aired in 2020. In season two, Javicia Leslie took over the role, playing a new character named Ryan Wilder who becomes the new Batwoman.

Later on in season two, Kate got a bit of a face swap and returned played by Wallis Day.

America Ferrera left the show *Superstore* after its fifth season in 2020, which meant both a change for the characters at Cloud 9 and a loss of a central figure for the series. While the pandemic caused delays, she returned for a few episodes in season six and ultimately appeared in the final episode to give her character, Amy, and Jonah (Ben Feldman) a satisfying conclusion to their story.

In the 2019 finale of the Syfy series *The Magicians*, Jason Ralph’s character, Quentin, successfully rescued Eliot, played by Hale Appleman, but died in the process. Although the show regularly features character deaths, Ralph didn’t appear in the fifth and final season.

Ahead of the final season, Arrow‘s Emily Bett Rickards announced her exit in a poem of sorts.

Felicity and I are very close, but after the seventh day, we’ll have to say goodbye, she wrote.

She did, however, return for a guest appearance in the show’s 2020 series finale.

Lauren Cohan initially left *The Walking Dead* in 2018 after difficult contract talks. While she appeared in a few episodes of season nine, her character, Maggie Greene, disappeared after a time jump of six years. Producers wanted her to come back, and when her short-lived TV show *Whiskey Cavalier* was canceled, she did. Cohan returned to *The Walking Dead* in October 2020, appearing in the sixteenth episode of season ten.

Following Cohan and Andrew Lincoln’s departures from the show, Danai Gurira also left. She joined the AMC series as the skilled swordswoman Michonne in season three and appeared for the last time in an episode that aired in March 2020.

The TV show *Lethal Weapon* has seen its share of cast changes. Clayne Crawford was let go after season two, and his co-star Damon Wayans announced he would leave after the show’s third season, which consisted of 13 episodes. Wayans stated in October 2018 that he planned to quit in December, explaining he was a 58-year-old with diabetes and the long, 16-hour workdays were too much. He jokingly referenced his character’s line, ‘too old for this,’ to describe his situation.

Luckily, the producers didn’t have to worry about finding a replacement because the show ended after just three seasons.

As a huge *Shameless* fan, I remember being shocked when Cameron Monaghan’s character, Ian Gallagher, ended up in jail during season nine! It turned out Cameron was ready to move on after being with the show for nine years, which was totally understandable. But then, in a move that really surprised everyone, he decided to come back for season ten! And he stayed with us right through to the very end, appearing in the show’s eleventh and final season in December 2020. It was amazing to see him back as Ian!
