As Solana sashays up the DeFi ladder, the wise old souls are not yet ready to write Ethereum’s obituary. Hayden Adams, the founding wizard of Uniswap, waves his battle flag, urging Ethereum to double down on its Layer 2 magic—and maybe outfox that flashy Solana kid on the block.
Uniswap’s Adams: “Horizontal Scaling or Bust, Folks!”
The calls for Ethereum to cozy up to Layer 2 aren’t whispers anymore—they’re a full-on chorus. Hayden Adams blasted out his message on X, practically saying, “Don’t ditch Layer 2, it’s our best shot.”
Why? Because, according to Adams, Solana is like that kid in school who’s great at sports (Layer 1 DeFi), streamlined and flashy. Ethereum’s Layer 1, meanwhile, feels like a grandpa trying to keep up—hobbled but stubborn.
Ethereum’s been dancing around with Layer 2 since 2020, polishing that roadmap like a secret recipe. But since Layer 1 has been chilling on the sidelines with no major upgrades, some fans are screaming “Change the tune!”
Adams, however, is rolling his eyes at every monthly “strategy remix,” pleading, “Can we please just pick a lane? Risking everything like it’s a crypto roulette table isn’t the vibe.”
“Five years. Five glorious years of chasing this L2 dream,” he scoffs. “You wanna trash the whole thing now? For what, internet fame?”
Meanwhile, in the ring, Ethereum and Solana are duking it out. The betting is on whether ETH will cross $3,000 before SOL dances past $200 — the crypto soap opera continues.
Layer 1 Isn’t Dead… Just Needs a Reality Check
Adams isn’t some dogmatic zealot—he admits, “Sure, if you want to go back to Layer 1, fine, but don’t kid yourself. It has to be clear and honest.”
Translation: We’d have to ditch the idealistic dream where “anyone with a laptop can run a node.” Spoiler alert: that fantasy’s hitting the rocks.
Uniswap’s numbers show Layer 1 is still where the party’s at, so a pivot could still be a win. But here’s the catch: More centralization means less chance for your average Joe to run the show. Not exactly a democracy.
All this drama unfolds as Ethereum sulks through its worst quarterly meh in almost a decade. ETH dreams of breaking the $1600 ceiling, stuck below $2,000 like a stubborn mole refusing to budge.
And then there’s Justin Sun of Tron—a steady hand refusing to sell ETH despite the gloom, promising to buddy up with Ethereum devs to breathe some life into the ecosystem. Because hey, even crypto warriors need a teammate.
