Two long-running dramas on Peacock, namely “ Law & Order: SVU” and “Chicago P.D.“, are witnessing a rise in viewership this summer. Both shows are quickly gaining popularity on the streaming platform. “Law & Order: SVU” has been airing on NBC since 1999, with over 500 episodes, providing plenty for fans to catch up on. “Chicago P.D.“, which is part of NBC’s “One Chicago” series, made its debut in 2014.
On Peacock’s Top 10 TV shows list as of July 4, 2025, both “SVU,” led by Mariska Hargitay, and “Chicago P.D.” are advancing. Specifically, SVU has moved up two spots to take third place, while Chicago P.D. is steadily rising and now holds the ninth spot, surpassing “Love After Lockup.” The highest-ranked show is “The Idaho Student Murders,” with “Love Island USA” in second place.
Fans of Law & Order: SVU were delighted when it was revealed that Kelli Giddish, who departed during Season 24, will be back as a regular cast member in Season 27. From 2011 to 2022, Giddish portrayed Detective Amanda Rollins, with her final leading role being in the Season 24 episode “And a Trauma in a Pear Tree.” Since then, she has made several guest appearances on the show.
It continues to evolve in a way that feels perfect, so I find myself drawn back. It’s like returning home to play with my loved ones – my family, friends, and co-stars such as Peter, Ice-T, Mariska, and the entire team on set.
Previously, Rollins experimented with a teaching job and later served as a Sergeant within the New York Police Department’s Intelligence Unit. However, two other characters from SVU are not returning to the series. In May 2025, both Juliana Aiden Martinez and Octavio Pisano were dismissed from the show. Pisano portrayed Detective Joe Silva since Season 23, whereas Martinez joined as Detective Kate Silva in Season 26.
One Chicago PD Cast Member Is Leaving Ahead of Season 13

Toya Turner, known for her role as Kiana Cook in Chicago PD, has decided to depart from the series after only one season. In her own words, she expressed gratitude for the time spent developing the character and appreciated the warm welcome she received. Further details were shared on Instagram.
In the absence of an explanation for Mariana Turner’s exit from Chicago PD, it’s been announced that the role of Cook will be recast. Producers are searching for a new female regular to portray an ATF Task Force officer with a military background in her place. This marks the second instance where a main female character on Chicago PD lasts just one season, following Officer Vanessa Rojas’ stint in Season 7. Currently, Turner is appearing on ABC’s The Rookie as Officer Celina Juarez.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Chicago PD are both streaming on Peacock.
