Why I’m Over The Moon That The Next Super Mario Movie Is Going To Center Around Super Mario Galaxy

Wow, it’s official! The next *Super Mario Bros.* movie isn’t going to be a simple sequel like *The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2* (or even *Super Mario World*, which many fans predicted). Instead, it’s going to be based on *Super Mario Galaxy*!

I’m incredibly excited about the new Super Mario movie! As a big fan of the original game, and especially of *Super Mario Galaxy* and its sequel, I think focusing on that storyline is a brilliant idea. It has the potential to be something truly special, and here’s why I feel that way.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Is The Best Super Mario Game Ever Made (Fight Me)

Everyone has different opinions on which game in a series is the best, and that’s perfectly normal. Your personal favorite often depends on when you first experienced the games. For instance, if you played Mario games as a kid in the 1980s, you might prefer classics like *Super Mario Bros. 3* or *Super Mario World*. Someone who started with *Super Mario 64* might feel differently, and a younger player who grew up with the Nintendo Switch might choose *Super Mario Odyssey* as their top pick.

Those are all great choices! But as someone who’s been playing since the beginning, I think *Super Mario Galaxy 2* is the best *Super Mario* game ever made, and there are several reasons why. It really built on the unique, floating gameplay of the first *Galaxy* game, taking it to a whole new level. It added tons of new levels, interesting goals to achieve, and even included Yoshi, who always makes a Mario game better.

Honestly, what I love most about this series is how much *fun* it is – it just feels so fresh and different from anything else in the Mario world! That’s why I’m so hyped they’re going with the *Galaxy* theme for the next movie. It’s going to be a huge change of pace from the first one, which is awesome. I mean, Mario in *space*? And they’re introducing new characters like Rosalina?! Yes, please! I’m really excited to see where they take it.

I’m really excited that the new Mario movie will be based on what I think are the two greatest games in the whole series.

We’ll Likely Learn More About Princess Peach’s Origin Now

A cool detail in *The Super Mario Bros. Movie* was Princess Peach hinting at a vast universe full of galaxies during a personal conversation with Mario. We also got a glimpse into her backstory, which led some fans, including me, to wonder if Rosalina might be her mother, since Peach didn’t know much about her own origins.

I’m excited to see if this movie sheds some light on Rosalina’s backstory. She’s a popular character, and Princess Peach talked about galaxies in the previous film, which suggests a possible connection between them. They might not be mother and daughter, but hopefully, the movie will reveal they’re related in some way – maybe even sisters who were separated years ago!

I’m definitely eager to see where this goes. One thing that bothered me about the first movie was that several storylines weren’t fully resolved. That’s why I’m a little disappointed they’re jumping to the *Galaxy* games for the sequel, even though I love those games. I think there’s still so much potential to explore within the Mushroom Kingdom, and it surprised me that the first film skipped ahead to *Galaxy* so quickly.

It looks like the movie will reveal more about Princess Peach’s past, which I’m really excited about. It would be amazing if they also included some lesser-known Nintendo characters, like Tatanga – that would be a dream come true!

The Music Is Going To Sound So Epic On The Big Screen

Even if you don’t love the *Super Mario Galaxy* games as much as other entries in the series, most people would agree that they feature some truly fantastic music.

I’m really excited about the upcoming *Legend of Zelda* movie, largely because of the incredible music in the games. I’d love to experience it with immersive surround sound. While the Zelda series consistently delivers great soundtracks, some games have better music than others. *Ocarina of Time* is often praised for its score, but a lot of fans actually prefer the more upbeat music from *The Wind Waker*. For me, though, *Breath of the Wild* has the best music in the entire series.

You might be wondering why I’m talking about *The Legend of Zelda* in an article about *Super Mario Galaxy*. That’s a fair question! Like most *Zelda* games, *Super Mario Galaxy* reuses music from older titles. While *Galaxy* features many classic Mario tunes, it also includes brand new songs, and I actually think those new tracks are the best in the series.

This means a new movie based on *Galaxy* can feature familiar songs from previous Mario games, as well as completely new music that even dedicated fans might not have heard if they didn’t play the *Galaxy* games on the Wii. That’s a big reason why *Galaxy* is the perfect source material for this sequel – the music is fantastic!

It’s Potentially A Huge Leap From The First Film

I touched on this a bit before, but I’m really excited about the new Mario movie potentially taking place in the Galaxy universe because it could be a huge moment not just for Mario, but for video game movies in general. It’s unusual for a sequel to make such a significant jump in scope and ambition.

This reminds me of other video game sequels that have been adapted into movies. Some are total failures – I’m thinking of *Mortal Kombat Annihilation* – while others are overly cautious. The second *Sonic the Hedgehog* movie, for example, introduced new characters like Knuckles and Tails, but didn’t really take any risks beyond that.

It’s surprising to see a *Super Mario Galaxy* movie happening so quickly – it only took one Mario movie, while it took three *Sonic* films to finally send that character into space! Getting Mario to outer space presents a huge storytelling challenge. How will they explain that jump? And with both Peach and Daisy appearing, the movie will need to carefully balance their roles so one doesn’t feel overshadowed.

I’m not sure how this new movie will turn out, but it seems like a really big undertaking with the *Galaxy* theme. I’m hoping it’s as good as the previous one, which I thought was one of the greatest video game adaptations ever made.

But, what do you think? Are you as pumped as I am for this sequel? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
