Jake Gyllenhaal is passing down his good luck charm.
Before the 77th Emmy Awards begin on September 14th at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, *Presumed Innocent* star and Lead Actor nominee, met *Adolescence*’s Owen Cooper, who is up for Outstanding Supporting Actor. The star gave Cooper a heartwarming gift.
In a video posted on social media on September 14th, Jake told Owen, “I have a present for you. I made this movie and it was nominated for an Academy Award. A friend sent me this before.” (You can find details about who attended the 2025 Emmys here.)
Owen, who has often publicly praised Jake during interviews, excitedly opened a small golden duck and exclaimed, “Wow!”
“It’s just a little good luck charm,” Jake explained. “Something to carry with you for a bit of extra luck.”
Owen is having an incredibly lucky year! At just 15 years old, he’s been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor alongside established stars like Javier Bardem (from *Monsters: The Erik and Lyle Menendez Story*), Rob Delaney (*Dying for Sex*), Ashley Walters (his *Adolescence* co-star), Bill Camp, and Peter Sarsgaard (both from *Presumed Innocent*). This makes him the youngest person ever nominated in this category. (You can find a list of all the Emmys 2025 winners so far here.)
Meeting Jake Gyllenhaal is a real highlight for the rising star. Owen has often spoken about how much he admires Gyllenhaal, and he recently shared on *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* that he was especially excited for the Emmys just to have a long conversation with him.
Owen excitedly shared that this person is his favorite. He joked that if he were seated near them, they wouldn’t enjoy themselves because he’d spend the entire night chatting them up.
The teenager named *Jarhead*, *Donnie Darko*, and *Prisoners* as some of his favorite movies starring Jake, and added, “I could honestly talk about him all day.”
And whether Jake had seen Owen’s performance in Adolescence?
“Probably not,” Owen joked to host Jimmy Kimmel, “but I don’t care.”
