Kim Kardashian is holding court on some drama.

More than two months after Kris Jenner’s big 70th birthday party in November, Kim Kardashian explained why she and her mom took down photos from social media that featured Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The removal of the photos had caused some confusion at the time.

Kim explained to her sister, Khloe Kardashian, on the ‘Khloe in Wonder Land’ podcast that the whole situation was surprisingly harmless. She shared that their mom and Meghan Markle have been friends for several years and have a genuinely kind connection.

Kim, age 45, said she and Kris were looking at pictures from the party to share online and were given the go-ahead to post any photos that included the royal couple. She stressed that her family always gets permission before sharing pictures.

The way she sees it, Meghan and Harry may have had a change of heart after the fact.

She continued, explaining that they likely remembered it was Remembrance Day—the U.K. holiday honoring fallen service members. She believed they didn’t want to appear to be celebrating while the decorations were still up, even if they were temporary, and later realized their concern was unnecessary.

Okay, so Meghan and Harry – you guys, Archie is SIX already, where does the time go?! And little Lilibet is two! – they were already out at a Baby2Baby event, which is lovely, of course. But then they came to Kris’ party, and honestly? Kim thinks it was too much fun, too celebratory for them, which I just… can’t even with that! Like they shouldn’t be allowed to enjoy themselves? I’m obsessed with them, and even I think they deserve a good time!

Last summer, Meghan sent Khloe and Kris gifts from her lifestyle brand, As Ever, including a wooden box containing three bottles of their Napa Valley Rosé wine.

Along with a thoughtful present, Kris thanked Meghan and Ase Official in a message saying, “Thank you @meghan @aseverofficial.”

She said the fundraiser was okay, but she didn’t think it needed all the partying and dancing.

“So, we took them down,” Kim said, “to respect Remembrance Day.”

Honestly, it really bothers me that this whole thing – my family and I now jokingly call it “Photogate” – became such a big deal. She really wishes it hadn’t blown up the way it did.

She was upset with how people reacted to it. It became unnecessarily dramatic and overblown, which she felt was avoidable.
