Authorities have been working around the clock to find Savannah Guthrie’s mom Nancy Guthrie.
After a week of searching for the 84-year-old woman, investigators have released security footage of a person who may be connected to her disappearance. The footage was found while reviewing data from their computer systems and appears to be from the front door of her home in Arizona.
FBI Director Kash Patel stated to TopMob News that over the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been collaborating with private companies to find any lost, damaged, or unviewable photos or videos from Nancy Guthrie’s home. This includes footage that may have been inaccessible because recording devices were removed.
The recent video shows a person wearing a ski mask, backpack, and gloves walking up to a front door. They briefly step away to grab a plant from the garden, then return and appear to punch the security camera.
Soon after the video came out, Savannah—who has been regularly updating the public with her siblings Annie and Camron Guthrie—posted screenshots from the security footage on Instagram. She wrote in the caption, “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home.”
The news anchor immediately shared the video and asked people to contact the FBI with any information they might have.
She posted a plea, saying someone must recognize the missing person. She expressed hope that the person is still alive and asked for help bringing them home.
As a dedicated follower of this case, it’s been incredibly frustrating to learn that, even after Nancy was reported missing on February 1st, the authorities still haven’t named any suspects. I was relieved to hear the FBI was looking into a potential ransom note that Arizona news reported on February 3rd, but they’ve also stated they don’t believe the Guthrie family has had any recent contact with whoever might have taken her. It’s just agonizing waiting for any real progress.

I wanted to share a quick update with you all. Honestly, things have been really tough lately, and as we head into another week of this challenging time, I felt it was important to connect and share a few thoughts directly with you.
I’m just so incredibly grateful for all the prayers and love that have been sent our way. My sister, brother, and I, along with our mom, have really felt it. We truly believe she can feel those prayers, and that God is giving her strength even now, during what feels like the hardest time imaginable.
She emphasized that while law enforcement continued to work to find Nancy, “We need your help.”

Nancy Guthrie, mother to Annie, Camron, and Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 p.m. on January 31st, according to Pima County police.

Nancy, age 84, was reported missing on February 1st after a friend noticed she hadn’t attended church that morning and alerted her family, police said. Her children searched her property for about an hour before contacting authorities and officially reporting her missing around noon.
I remember Sheriff Chris Nanos explaining that, right away, homicide detectives went to the victim’s home to start the initial investigation. He walked us through everything they did, and it was clear they were taking it very seriously.
We don’t usually involve the sheriff in situations like this, but the details emerging from the house are deeply troubling,” he said at a press conference on February 2nd. “This case was particularly unusual based on what officers described and what we discovered at the scene.
This isn’t how things usually work,” Nanos explained. “Normally, our homicide team is called out when someone dies, when we find a body. In this case, we sent them based solely on the information the surveyors provided.”

After looking into the situation, officials stated they think a crime happened at Nancy’s house.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos stated that investigators now confirm they are dealing with a crime scene. He asked for the public’s assistance, noting that the community has consistently helped solve difficult cases and he hopes they will do so again.
The sheriff pointed out that Nancy had difficulty walking—she couldn’t walk even a short distance on her own—which led him to suspect something wasn’t right about her disappearance.
He stated definitively that she didn’t simply leave on her own, emphasizing, “There’s evidence at the location suggesting she didn’t leave voluntarily.”

The search for Nancy is ongoing, and officials are stressing that she requires daily medication to stay healthy, and she likely doesn’t have it with her.
Let me tell you, I was really struck by a story I heard recently. A woman, 84 years old, is dealing with some health issues and relies on vital medication. The urgency is incredible – she needs this medication within 24 hours, or it could be life-threatening. It’s a stark reminder of how quickly things can change, and the importance of access to healthcare for everyone.
We’re asking anyone with information about this – if you’ve seen or heard anything at all – to please get in touch with us. Please call 911. We want to avoid another tragedy and really need the public’s help.
Although Nancy has faced some health challenges, Dr. Nanos highlighted that her mind remains sharp.
According to Dr. Nanos, Nancy Guthrie is mentally alert and this situation isn’t connected to dementia. She’s still very sharp. The family wants to emphasize that she didn’t simply wander off, and any physical limitations she has are simply due to her age.
With the search for Nancy still ongoing, Nanos expressed his wish for her to come home safely.
“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

The day after Nancy was reported missing, the anchor of the Today show publicly shared how difficult this time is for her family.
Speaking for my family, I want to express our gratitude for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and messages we’ve received,” she said on February 2nd during an interview on NBC’s morning show. “Our top priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.”
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the investigation and asked anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Once Savannah learned her mother, Nancy, had been reported missing, her colleagues on the Today show immediately voiced their support publicly.
Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she is personally close to Nancy, saying, “We love Nancy.”
My heart is absolutely with Savannah and her family right now. I’m sending all my prayers and positive thoughts to them during this difficult time. They’re constantly on my mind.
Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.
She said the show’s request for viewers to help with the investigation felt like a perfect example of the community coming together. She encouraged anyone with information, even if it seemed insignificant, to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s department.
She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”
Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.
Okay, so I’m completely obsessed with Savannah Guthrie, and I was scrolling through Instagram when I saw this really worrying post. Some guy was desperately asking people to help find Savannah’s mom, Nancy! He posted on his Stories on February 2nd, saying if anyone has even the tiniest clue where Nancy might be, to please, please call the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. It’s just so scary, and I’m hoping she’s found safe. He even included the sheriff’s number, which is so thoughtful. I’m just really worried about Savannah and her family!
Savannah’s former colleague, Hoda Kotb, also responded to the surprising announcement. She shared a heartwarming photo of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today show set. In a simple message on Instagram from February 2nd, Hoda posted a red heart and praying hands emoji.

Police have labeled Nancy’s home in Arizona a crime scene, but they don’t think the public needs to be worried.
At a press conference on February 2nd, Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that he didn’t believe there was an immediate danger, but emphasized that the investigation was still ongoing and much work remained.
Savannah hasn’t been on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been checking in with her to make sure she’s okay.
Oh my gosh, the sheriff finally said they talked to her! Apparently, she has a whole security team that’s been keeping them updated all night, which, of course, makes sense for her. But they’re not ruling anything out, which is good, because we need to know everything is being investigated! It’s just… everything feels so unreal.

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.
Investigators now think the woman was likely taken from her home against her will, potentially while she was sleeping, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. Detectives are investigating the possibility that she was kidnapped.

After news broke that Nancy might have been taken from her home in Arizona while she was sleeping, Savannah made a heartfelt plea.
In a recent Instagram post on February 2nd, she shared her faith, writing that she believes in the power of prayer, the strength of people coming together with love and hope, and the inherent goodness of humanity. Ultimately, she stated her belief is in a higher power.
Savannah continued, thanking everyone for keeping her mother, Nancy, in their thoughts and prayers. She described Nancy as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person, and asked for continued prayers, believing they would offer comfort and strength right now.
She added, “we need you.”
To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.
She shared a timeless verse from Isaiah, writing, “He will keep those with steadfast hearts, who trust in the Lord, in perfect peace.” She believed this message resonated with everyone.
Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that DNA evidence was discovered at Nancy’s house, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
I was really hoping they’d get a good DNA profile from the samples they collected! The investigator told NBC News, in a report on Today on February 3rd, that they were aiming to identify exactly what they were dealing with, and a strong DNA sample was key to that.
At a press conference held two days after Nancy went missing, Nanos explained what happened leading up to her disappearance.
According to Nanos, the doorbell camera stopped working at 1:47 a.m., about four hours after she got back from a family visit, as she explained at a press conference on February 5th.
The software identified someone at the door, but the video was automatically deleted because Nancy didn’t have an active subscription. However, the representative assured her they were still working to recover the footage.
The sheriff explained that Nancy’s pacemaker app lost connection to her phone at 2:28 a.m. Later, at 11:56 a.m., her family found her missing, and they called 911 at 12:03 p.m. to report it to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
When a situation unfolds, things move quickly. Within about ten minutes, our first officers are on the scene. That’s when we kick into high gear – sending in search and rescue teams to help anyone in need, while our detectives start gathering information and figuring out what happened. It’s a coordinated effort, and speed is key.

On February 4th, Savannah, Camron, and Annie read letters they wrote to their mother and the people who might have taken her, asking them to bring Nancy home safely.
In a video posted to Instagram, the family spokesperson said they are doing everything possible and are willing to communicate. However, they expressed concern about the potential for misinformation, stating they need definitive proof their loved one is alive and in the possession of those they are communicating with.
She explained, ‘My mom is the center of our world, our safe place. Her health is very delicate, and she’s constantly in pain. Right now, she doesn’t have the medication she desperately needs just to get by and ease her suffering.’
The next day, Camron confirmed in a separate video that the family was still “waiting for contact.”
We’re asking whoever has our mother to please contact us. We haven’t received any direct communication, and we need to establish a way to connect so we can begin to resolve this situation.
During a press conference on February 5th, FBI agent Heith Janke announced the arrest of Derrick Callella from California. Callella is accused of sending fake texts as part of an attempt to profit from the situation – Janke described him as a complete fraudster. Authorities are also taking a detailed ransom letter shared with TMZ very seriously. Callella has not yet entered a plea and was released on a $20,000 bond.
However, he noted, the Guthrie family was “still waiting for communication.”

On February 7th, the day officials told Today they had searched Annie’s Arizona home as a routine part of the investigation, Savannah posted another Instagram video suggesting her earlier wish had come true.
In a video, the woman said, “We got your message and we understand what you’re asking.” Holding hands with Camron and Annie, she pleaded, “Please bring our mother back so we can celebrate with her. It’s the only thing that will bring us peace.”
And if her intentions weren’t clear, Savannah added, “This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always keeping an eye on what’s happening around us, and I wanted to share an update: on February 10th, investigators publicly released photos of someone they’re looking into as part of an ongoing investigation. It’s a significant step in the case, and they’re hoping the public can help identify this person.
Footage from a security camera on Nancy’s property shows a person wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack walking up to the house. The individual then appears to punch the camera, damaging it. Police had previously noted the camera was broken when they arrived at the scene.
For the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working with private companies to find any lost, damaged, or hidden images or videos from Nancy Guthrie’s home. This effort was necessary because recording devices had been removed. They were able to recover the video from data still stored on the system’s servers, according to a statement shared with TopMob News.
“Working with our partners,” the note continued, “law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
