As a critic, I can confidently say that *Peacemaker* Season 2 has quickly become a standout in the superhero TV landscape. After episode eight landed last week, the buzz was intense – everyone was desperate to know if we’d be getting another one so soon!
Unfortunately, there won’t be a Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 9 airing on October 16.
Here’s everything we know so far.
Why Peacemaker Season 2 will not air a new episode on October 16
There won’t be a new episode of Peacemaker Season 2 on October 16th because the season has finished airing. The creators intended for it to have eight episodes, and that’s exactly how many were released.
Season 2 mirrored the successful format of Season 1, offering eight action-packed episodes. Both seasons followed the same structure, and the popularity of the first season carried over to the second.
James Gunn, the creator of Peacemaker, recently discussed the show’s future in a podcast interview with Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee. He expressed his strong affection for the series and thanked viewers for their enthusiastic support.
Gunn didn’t officially say if there would be another season, but he hinted that plans are in the works, though its exact format is still being decided.
If you haven’t heard, the second season of Peacemaker is closely tied to James Gunn’s new Superman movie. The show’s events take place shortly after the movie’s story. Season 2 also introduces the idea of the multiverse, hinting that Gunn might explore this concept further in future DC Universe projects.
While a third season of Peacemaker isn’t officially happening yet, most fans expect to see Chris Smith return somewhere in the DC Universe. He could show up in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film or another project down the line.
In the season two finale, Chris Smith is taken into custody by ARGUS agents at the direction of Rick Flag Sr., and his head is covered during the arrest. This is due to Rick’s ongoing anger towards Smith for killing his son in a previous operation, known as Operation Starfish.
Instead of killing him, however, Rick Sr. sends Peacemaker to Planet Salvation through the portal.
James Gunn is known for carefully crafting his stories, so every detail usually has a reason. Because he’s suggested he has future plans for Peacemaker, potentially beyond the television show, the setting of Planet Salvation might show up again in one of his future DC projects.
