Why Robin Roberts Is Absent From Good Morning America

Robin Roberts is saying good morning to a new adventure. 

The host of “Good Morning America” explained why she’s been away from the ABC show lately. She disclosed that she took a temporary break from co-anchoring to go on an expedition to Africa, traveling alongside her wife Amber Laign, NBA legend Masai Ujiri, and the nonprofit organization Giants of Africa.

In a July 27 Instagram post, Robin shared that we’re currently in Rwanda, graciously hosted by @inmuwetrust_ and @giantsofafrica. This special trip is all about honoring young basketball talents across Africa. Notably, the last Saturday of every month in Rwanda is designated as a national day for service.

Moreover, the journey turned out to have an additional significance: celebrating their anniversary. Since Robin, who married Amber in 2023 after 18 years of courtship, mentioned that it was “An ideal method for us to commemorate 20 years together as a couple.

She added, “It certainly has been an adventure!”

Not only did Robin provide a peek into her global vacation, but she also posted a heartfelt message and a charming photograph alongside it. In this picture, both women – Robin (age 64) and Amber (age 50) – can be seen smiling in coordinating green outfits while performing volunteer work during their time in Rwanda.

In essence, Amber found great fulfillment in the fact that the couple primarily invested their time in uplifting local youth groups across the nation, an endeavor she described as brimming with enthusiasm, happiness, and vitality.

She posted on her Instagram on the 27th of July, “This experience has taught us about what’s truly valuable: connections, a sense of purpose, and making a difference.” (or “This experience has shown us the importance of building connections, finding purpose, and contributing to others.”)

When can we expect Robin back on her role at Good Morning America? The TV figure hasn’t specified an exact day yet.

However, it appeared that the journey wasn’t causing concern among various members of Robin and Amber’s family, as they openly shared their enthusiasm for their travels instead.
