Why Sarah Jessica Parker Feels “Peculiar” Discussing Work-Life Balance

Sarah Jessica Parker, known for her role in *Sex and the City*, recently explained why she avoids talking about balancing her career and family life. She and her husband, Matthew Broderick, have three children: 22-year-old James Wilkie Broderick, and 16-year-old twin daughters, Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick and Tabitha Hodge Broderick.

Sarah Jessica Parker, 60, said she feels awkward discussing work-life balance. In an interview with *Hello* magazine, published October 9th, she explained she doesn’t feel it’s her place to offer advice, out of consideration for parents who are actively juggling work and family.

The *And Just Like That* star feels it’s unfair to compare her experiences as a mother to those of others, because everyone faces unique challenges.

Parker explained that working mothers everywhere – not just in her country, France, the UK, or Western Europe, but globally – are often juggling multiple jobs without adequate support like affordable childcare or healthcare. Because of this widespread struggle, she felt it was difficult for her to talk about her own experience balancing work and motherhood.

However, balancing her acting career and motherhood hasn’t always been easy. While her children are aware of her demanding work life, she still finds it hard to not be able to spend as much time with them as she’d like.

The *Hocus Pocus* actor explained that it’s tough when you miss things, but sometimes it’s understandable and everything is okay with your child. Usually, even missing out is a deliberate choice – a result of choosing to work.

Keeping that in mind, Parker focuses on enjoying acting and creating lasting memories with her family.

Honestly, one of the things I truly admire about her is that she gets to be home for dinner with her family. As a fan, it’s so lovely to hear! She’s mentioned how different that is from when she’s working on set, and you can just tell how much she values that time at home.

Parker recently shared her genuine thoughts, building on a previous post where she talked about her family and her strong relationship with her daughters, Marion and Tabitha.

During an August appearance on *Today With Jenna & Friends*, she shared her frustration with negative stereotypes about teenage twin girls. She described her own twins as genuinely kind and enjoyable to be around, saying she truly loves spending time with them.

She says their contrasting personalities make even simple chats really engaging.

She explained it felt like being part of a constant comparison, because these kids – one with a certain characteristic and one without – often attend the same schools. Generally, she found them to be very kind and inquisitive.
