Why Sofia Franklyn Waited 6 Years to Tell Her Side of Alex Cooper Feud

Sofia Franklyn is pressing play on her side of the story. 

After a six-year silence following a falling out with her former business partner, Alex Cooper, Sofia is now sharing her side of the story about their time working together on the podcast Call Her Daddy. She’ll reveal what happened in her upcoming memoir, Daddy Issues.

The 33-year-old explained in a YouTube video that she hadn’t felt prepared to share her story until now. She wanted to be completely honest, truthful, and genuine, and to avoid focusing on herself as much as possible.

She acknowledged she needed to mature, explaining she wasn’t prepared to share her story before now. She also said she wouldn’t even enjoy reading a memoir written by her younger, 28-year-old self, as it would be filled with things she now considers unimportant.

Sofia explained that the time since 2020 has allowed her to gain perspective and think deeply about things.

I needed to be completely honest about what happened and figure out what was true and what wasn’t. I had to understand my own experience, but also how others saw it – because I went through this with all of you. I’m still human, and at the time, I was just trying to make sense of everything.

She also believed that audiences are more sophisticated these days. People now grasp complex ideas, how the media works, and that things aren’t always simply black and white – there’s often a gray area.

Now, there’s a huge sense of relief.

In a video, Sofia shared how relieved she was to finally connect with her audience authentically. “After six years, I’m getting emotional just thinking about it,” she said. “I can finally speak to you all honestly, and not feel like I have to hide anything.”

Alex and Sofia ended their professional relationship in 2020. Dave Portnoy, who was producing their podcast at the time, explained that Sofia declined a contract with Barstool, leading them to continue the podcast without her.

More recently, Alex addressed the drama in her 2025 Hulu docuseries Call Her Alex.

In the show, she claimed she accepted the offer even though Sofia didn’t want to, and that’s why she remained involved. She came to understand that the group, which she called the ‘Daddy Gang,’ had a much wider reach and influence than either of them realized.

During a September 2023 game of “Stir the Pot” with her daughter, Kelly Osbourne, on TopMob News, Sharon Osbourne revealed that she considered Danny Masterson, known from “That ’70s Show,” to be the rudest celebrity she’d ever encountered. She described him as a very rude and unpleasant person.

He did not respond to her remarks publicly.

Five years ago, Sharon shared with Larry King that Ashton seemed upset during his 2014 appearance on The Talk because she had misspoken his name.

She remembered him asking, ‘Who are you and what have you accomplished in this field?’ Her response was sharp: ‘Listen, young man, don’t underestimate me, because I will completely overwhelm you.’ She finished by saying, ‘You have no idea what you’re up against.’

In August 2022, Cassadee Pope and Maren Morris clashed with Brittany Aldean, the wife of country singer Jason Aldean, after Brittany posted a video on Instagram. In the video, she thanked her parents for not allowing her to transition during a phase where she preferred traditionally masculine interests, and expressed her appreciation for her current feminine lifestyle.

In a 2022 TikTok trend, JoJo Siwa called Candace Cameron Bure the “rudest” celebrity she’d met, explaining that Bure once turned down her request for a photo on the red carpet. Soon after, Cameron Bure apologized, saying she regretted hurting Siwa’s feelings as an 11-year-old and was truly sorry for not taking the picture.

Candace and the other person resolved their differences. However, when asked months later if her network, Great American Family, would ever feature same-sex couples as the main characters in its holiday films, she stated it wouldn’t, explaining that the network would continue to focus on traditional marriage.

JoJo, who publicly shared they are part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, responded to the actress’s comment on Instagram, calling it “rude and hurtful to an entire community.”

In June 2021, Courtney Love claimed Olivia Rodrigo had copied the album cover art of her band, Hole, for a promotional photo without proper credit. Olivia responded with a simple, “Love u and live through this sooooo much.” Courtney then playfully replied, “Olivia – you’re welcome. My favorite florist is in Notting Hill, London! DM me for details! I look forward to reading your note [winking face emoji].”

Many viewers of The Hills will recall Lauren’s famous line from the start of season three. The conflict began when Heidi started dating her future husband, Spencer Pratt, and escalated when Lauren claimed Heidi and Spencer spread a false rumor about her and her then-boyfriend, Jason Wahler, involving a sex tape.

Tyrese and Dwayne Johnson had a public falling out in 2017, starting with an Instagram post where Tyrese criticized Dwayne after the release of Fast & Furious 9 was delayed until April 2020. On the same day, a spin-off movie featuring Dwayne and Jason Statham was announced, scheduled for 2019. The next month, Tyrese said he would leave Fast 9 if Dwayne was still involved.

Tyrese recently discussed the long-standing conflict with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, telling Van Lathan on The Red Pill podcast that they still haven’t spoken directly. He mentioned he’d talked to one of Johnson’s producing partners, but not to Johnson himself, and hopes to have a conversation with him in the future.

Tyrese admitted he shouldn’t have publicly shared frustrations he’d heard from others connected to the franchise. He explained he was the one who spoke out, and he takes responsibility for that, saying it wasn’t professional or appropriate.

Taylor Swift and Katy Perry had a long-running public disagreement, rumored to have even influenced Swift’s song “Bad Blood.” The conflict, which supposedly began due to a dispute over a dancer and competition between their concert tours, ended when Perry sent Swift an olive branch as a peace offering before Swift’s Reputation Tour began.

Taylor shared in an Instagram video that she found a real olive branch in her dressing room, saying it meant a lot to her.

For years, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, stars of Sex and the City, successfully dismissed rumors of a disagreement. However, those rumors resurfaced when Kim chose not to participate in a third movie and subsequently made comments about her co-star that sparked controversy.

During a September 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen asked Sarah Jessica Parker how she felt about Kim Cattrall telling Piers Morgan they had only ever been colleagues, not friends.

She said she was just devastated. They had talked about it all week, and she was really bothered because that wasn’t how she remembered things happening.

It’s definitely sad, but I believe what truly connects us is the shared experience we all had. It started as a job, but over the years, it became something deeply personal. Elton John, while accepting an award, really went after Madonna, publicly questioning her live performances. He basically said that if someone’s lip-syncing when you’ve paid good money to see a concert – he even suggested they should be shot! It was a really shocking thing to say, and it definitely kicked off a long-standing feud. I was stunned when I first heard about it, and honestly, it’s still talked about by fans like me today.

The actress, formerly on Grey’s Anatomy, caused a disagreement with the show’s creator back in 2008 when she asked to be removed from Emmy Award consideration. She explained that she didn’t think her storylines that season were strong enough to deserve a nomination.

Shonda Rhimes discussed Katherine’s choice in a 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey on Oprah’s Next Chapter. She admitted it was both hurtful and expected. “When someone consistently demonstrates their true character, you should believe it,” Shonda explained. “I’ve really taken that to heart, and it’s been a valuable lesson for me.”
