Why Steve Harvey Says He’s “Off Limits” to Lori Harvey’s Exes

Steve Harvey isn’t looking to start a family feud with his daughter.

The game show host admitted he needs to avoid getting involved with Lori Harvey’s former partners.

Steve explained on the September 16th episode of *The Pivot Podcast* that he has a strict rule: if a boy used to date his partner, Steve immediately dislikes him as if he had been the one dating him. He considers anyone his partner’s ex to be ‘off limits’.

And that’s because he’s learned a lesson from his daughter the hard way.

He jokingly said he needed to be very careful, explaining, “Lori is really getting under my skin, and I can’t afford to mess up.”

Even if he runs into one of her exes in public, talking to them is off-limits.

You know, I was chatting with Steve recently, and he mentioned a funny run-in he had. He actually bumped into one of Lori’s former boyfriends – Michael B. Jordan, who she dated a couple of years ago – while they were both at an NBA game in Abu Dhabi. Apparently, he was polite and shook Michael’s hand! It’s just one of those things that happens when you’re out and about, right?

Although they appeared happy in public, it seems Lori, 28, wasn’t pleased to see him when he returned home.

Steve, who is married to Lori and shares her with Marjorie, joked that he’s avoiding any physical contact or even acknowledging another man. He said he’s acting as if that person doesn’t exist.

Lori has clear boundaries with her father, but she’s currently prioritizing personal growth over her romantic life. After ending her relationship with the actor from *Sinners*, she explained that she feels ready, at 26, to focus on self-discovery.

Lori shared in June 2022 with Adrienne Bailon-Houghton of TopMob News that she feels like she’s truly becoming herself, especially this year. She described it as finally maturing and getting to know who she really is.

She emphasized that love is essential, but also pointed out she has many other priorities and interests beyond romantic relationships.

Lori explained that she’d been preoccupied with other priorities for a long time, simply learning how to manage everyday life.
